Effects of Prolactin (PRL) on Pituitary and Testicular Function in Mice with Hereditary PRL Deficiency

Endocrinology, 1977
Hereditary dwarf mice (Snell dwarf, dw/dw and Ames dwarf, dfldf) are genetically prolactin-deficient and sterile. Treatment with prolactin (PRL) stimulates testicular growth and activity, and induces fertility in these animals. To elucidate the mechanism of this action of PRL, and to identify the possible physiological functions of this hormone during ...

Immunoelectron microscopic observation of prolactin (PRL) in human PRL secreting pituitary adenomas and non-neoplastic pituitary PRL cells

Pathology - Research and Practice, 1988
Immunoelectron microscopic localization of prolactin (PRL) was studied in pituitary adenoma cells and in non-neoplastic PRL cells. The adenoma cells showed characteristic concentration of PRL in Golgi region which was ultrastructurally in Golgi saccules and in vesicular RER.

PRL Secreting Adenomas in Male Patients

Pituitary, 2005
Prolactinomas are the most frequent pituitary tumors and their frequency varies with age and sex, occurring most frequently in females between 20-50 yr-old. In men, hyperprolactinaemia is often present for many years without symptoms, as generally the most important symptoms are the decrease in libido and/or sexual potency both underestimated by the ...

THE PLACE OF PRL IN HUMAN LACTATION

Clinical Endocrinology, 1983
SUMMARYPlasma PRL levels were measured during an episode of breast feeding in fourteen women on the eighth and 42nd post‐partum days. The results show that as lactation continues so the importance of absolute values of PRL diminishes, but the capability to secrete PRL in response to the suckling stimulus is maintained.
