Promoting adolescents' pro‐environmental behavior: A motive‐alignment approach

open access: yesJournal of Research on Adolescence
AbstractMost adolescents are concerned about climate change. What helps them to act on their concerns? This preregistered randomized experiment tested whether adolescents' pro‐environmental behavior can be promoted by framing the behavior as compatible with their autonomy motive.

Aggressive prostate cancer is associated with pericyte dysfunction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumor‐produced TGF‐β drives pericyte dysfunction in prostate cancer. This dysfunction is characterized by downregulation of some canonical pericyte markers (i.e., DES, CSPG4, and ACTA2) while maintaining the expression of others (i.e., PDGFRB, NOTCH3, and RGS5).

Screening for lung cancer: A systematic review of overdiagnosis and its implications

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Low‐dose computed tomography (CT) screening for lung cancer may increase overdiagnosis compared to no screening, though the risk is likely low versus chest X‐ray. Our review of 8 trials (84 660 participants) shows added costs. Further research with strict adherence to modern nodule management strategies may help determine the extent to which ...

PRO-ENVIRONMENTAL BEHAVIORS IN TÜRKIYE: A SCALE DEVELOPMENT STUDY

open access: yesAnkara Üniversitesi Dil ve Tarih-Coğrafya Fakültesi Dergisi
The increase in the global temperature, wildfires, and droughts that occurred in the past decades have presented a preview of what would happen if people do not start taking action to protect the environment. Considering the importance of human actions to save the planet, we developed a culture-specific tool to measure pro-environmental behaviors in ...

Survivin and Aurora Kinase A control cell fate decisions during mitosis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aurora A interacts with survivin during mitosis and regulates its centromeric role. Loss of Aurora A activity mislocalises survivin, the CPC and BubR1, leading to disruption of the spindle checkpoint and triggering premature mitotic exit, which we refer to as ‘mitotic slippage’.

Divergent effects of environmental concern and risk perception on pro-environmental intention: an international study across 17 countries

open access: yesScientific Reports
Studies have demonstrated that pro-environmental behaviors vary across countries and are influenced by cultural values, environmental concerns (EC), and risk perception.

Reduced vascular leakage correlates with breast carcinoma T regulatory cell infiltration but not with metastatic propensity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A mouse model for vascular normalization and a human breast cancer cohort were studied to understand the relationship between vascular leakage and tumor immune suppression. For this, endothelial and immune cell RNAseq, staining for vascular function, and immune cell profiling were employed.

A Community-Based Accommodation Program for Adults with Autism and Mental Retardation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
There is a paucity of treatment literature for significant and intractable behavior problems in adults with autism and mental retardation. Four adults with autism, severe to profound mental retardation, and serious, long-term behavior problems ...

Pareto and Boltzmann-Gibbs behaviors in a deterministic multi-agent system

open access: yes, 2008
A deterministic system of interacting agents is considered as a model for economic dynamics. The dynamics of the system is described by a coupled map lattice with near neighbor interactions.
