GMI Optimisation for End-to-End Learning-based Probabilistic Constellation Shaping in 400-Gbits/s/λ DP-64QAM Optical Communication System

International Conference on Transparent Optical Networks
Autoencoders (AEs) as End-to-end (E2E) learning approaches have demonstrated the capability to achieve robust constellation shaping in optical fibre communication systems.

Probabilistic Constellation Shaping in Flex-Grid over Multicore Fibre Optical Backbone Networks: An Energy Savings Evaluation

International Conference on Transparent Optical Networks
Probabilistic constellation shaping (PCS) has been shown to close the gap to channel capacity at any distance, by providing a fine-grained software-defined trade-off between achievable spectral efficiency and transmission reach.

Design of Probabilistic Constellation Shaping for Physical Layer Security in Visible Light Communications

IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference
This paper proposes a practical design of proba-bilistic constellation shaping (PCS) for physical layer security in visible light communications. In particular, the $M$ -ary PAM symbol distribution is optimized to maximize the secrecy capacity given ...

First Single-Carrier Transmission at Net Data Rates of 1.6 Tb/s over 9075 km and 2.4 Tb/s over 1210 km Using 300 GBd Dual-Polarization Signals and Probabilistic Constellation Shaping

arXiv.org
We report long-haul transmissions of single-carrier 300 GBd dual-polarization signals with optical arbitrary waveform generation and measurement. We demonstrate net 1.6 Tb/s over 9075 km with PCS-16QAM and 2.4 Tb/s over 1210 km with PCS-36QAM.

Tailoring rate and latency of free space optical systems to turbulence conditions with probabilistic constellation shaping and data interleaving

Optical Fiber Communications Conference and Exhibition
We show up to 250 Gbps per carrier transmission is achievable with digital coherent technologies at 65dB link-loss. We jointly optimize symbol-rate, probabilistic shaping and interleaving while replicating strong turbulence conditions.

Probabilistic Constellation Shaping for OFDM ISAC Signals Under Temporal-Frequency Filtering

IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications
Integrated sensing and communications (ISAC) is considered an innovative technology in sixth-generation (6G) wireless networks, where utilizing orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) communication signals for sensing provides a cost-effective ...

On the optimum decision threshold for probabilistically shaped PAM constellation

CLEO Pacific Rim Conference, 2018
We investigate and derive the optimum decision threshold for probabilistically shaped PAM constellation. Both in simulation and experiment, we verify our anaysis and show a lower BER performance compared with the conventional median threshold.

On Optimal Probabilistically Shaped Constellations for Unamplified Optical Interconnects

Optical Fiber Communication Conference (OFC) 2025
We discuss a generalized method to determine the optimal probabilistically shaped constellation for a peak-power constraint system limited by transceiver impairments. We study the shaping gains under different system conditions and their corresponding optimal distributions.
