Validation of Probabilistic Predictions

Medical Decision Making, 1993
Current advances in high-speed computing and increased availability of statistical software have led to widespread use of statistical methods for the development of computerized protocols predictive of binary health outcomes. If these predictive algorithms are to be used in settings other than those for which they were developed, e.g., applied in a ...

Probabilistic congestion prediction

Proceedings of the 2004 international symposium on Physical design, 2004
Congestion is a fundamental problem in VLSI design flows. Typically, it is handled by feeding back density information to the placers and routers. Fast and accurate congestion estimation is key in order to obtain a design flow with less iterations and higher predictability.Fast congestion prediction is based on an accurate approximation of the actual ...

Information Aggregation in Probabilistic Prediction

IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics, 1973
Probabilistic prediction generally involves the consideration of information from many different sources, and this information must be aggregated to determine a single probability (or probability distribution). This paper is concerned with the aggregation process, and although some aspects of the paper are new, much of the paper is tutorial in nature ...

Probabilistic structural durability prediction

AIAA Journal, 1998
Anefe cientreliability analysis method fordurability of structural components subjected to external and inertial loads with time-dependent variable amplitudes is presented. This method is able to support reliability analysis of crack-initiation and crack-propagation lives of practical applications, considering uncertainties such as material properties,

On Semi-Probabilistic universal prediction

2013 IEEE Information Theory Workshop (ITW), 2013
We discuss two scenarios of universal prediction, as well as some recent advances in the study of minimax regret and algorithmic development. We then propose an intermediate scenario, the Semi-Probabilistic Setting, and make progress towards understanding the associated minimax regret.

A Probabilistic Hypothesis for the Prediction of Visual Fixations

IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics, 1975
A hypothesis is proposed that predicts regions where fixations are most likely to occur on a visual pattern viewed by a human test subject. A scheme is developed for evaluating a fixation probability density function for any given pattern, based on an assumed fixation probability density function for a pattern consisting of a single dot. Predictions of
