Probabilistic Shaping Using 5G New Radio Polar Codes
An extension to the 5G New Radio polar coding chain is proposed by introducing a shaping encoder prior to the polar encoder that improves the performance with higher order modulation via probabilistic shaping.

LDPC Coded Modulation with Probabilistic Shaping for Optical Fiber Systems
An LDPC coded modulation scheme with probabilistic shaping, optimized interleavers and noniterative demapping is proposed. Full-field simulations show an increase in transmission distance by 8% compared to uniformly distributed input.Comment: 3 pages, 3 ...

ABSTRACT Treatment‐associated hepatotoxicity (TAH) is a common complication of pediatric acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) treatment, but genetic risk factors remain poorly understood. We evaluated the SOD2 rs4880 variant in 544 children with ALL at Texas Children's Hospital. After adjusting for demographic and clinical covariates, the rs4880 C allele

Ultra-Sparse Non-Binary LDPC Codes for Probabilistic Amplitude Shaping
This work shows how non-binary low-density parity-check codes over GF($2^p$) can be combined with probabilistic amplitude shaping (PAS) (B\"ocherer, et al., 2015), which combines forward-error correction with non-uniform signaling for power-efficient ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

The 2014 International Planning Competition: Progress and Trends [PDF]
We review the 2014 International Planning Competition (IPC-2014), the eighth in a series of competitions starting in 1998. IPC-2014 was held in three separate parts to assess state-of-the-art in three prominent areas of planning research: the ...

AAA+ protein unfoldases—the Moirai of the proteome
AAA+ unfoldases are essential molecular motors that power protein degradation and disaggregation. This review integrates recent cryo‐electron microscopy (cryo‐EM) structures and single‐molecule biophysical data to reconcile competing models of substrate translocation.

Performance Metrics for Systems with Soft-Decision FEC and Probabilistic Shaping
High-throughput optical communication systems utilize binary soft-decision forward error correction (SD-FEC) with bit interleaving over the bit channels. The generalized mutual information (GMI) is an achievable information rate (AIR) in such systems and
