Probability distributions of frequency analysis of rainfall at the southwest region of Paraná State, Brazil

open access: yesRevista de Ciências Agroveterinárias, 2018
The study of monthly rainfall probabilities is of great importance due to the increasing occurrences of extreme events in different regions of Brazil. However, the rainfall distribution at the southwest region of Paraná State, Brazil, is still unknown ...

Oil Spill SAR Image Segmentation via Probability Distribution Modeling

open access: yesIEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Applied Earth Observations and Remote Sensing, 2022
Segmentation of marine oil spills in synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images is a challenging task because of the complexity and irregularities in SAR images. In this work, we aim to develop an effective segmentation method which addresses marine oil spill

Analytical Description of the Diffusion in a Cellular Automaton with the Margolus Neighbourhood in Terms of the Two-Dimensional Markov Chain

open access: yesMathematics, 2023
The one-parameter two-dimensional cellular automaton with the Margolus neighbourhood is analyzed based on considering the projection of the stochastic movements of a single particle. Introducing the auxiliary random variable associated with the direction

A classical interpretation of the Scrooge distribution

open access: yes, 2018
The Scrooge distribution is a probability distribution over the set of pure states of a quantum system. Specifically, it is the distribution that, upon measurement, gives up the least information about the identity of the pure state, compared with all ...

Probability distribution of flood flows in Tunisia [PDF]

open access: yesHydrology and Earth System Sciences, 2008
L (Linear) moments are used in identifying regional flood frequency distributions for different zones Tunisia wide. 1134 site-years of annual maximum stream flow data from a total of 42 stations with an average record length of 27 years are considered ...

LDAcoop: Integrating non‐linear population dynamics into the analysis of clonogenic growth in vitro

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Limiting dilution assays (LDAs) quantify clonogenic growth by seeding serial dilutions of cells and scoring wells for colony formation. The fraction of negative wells is plotted against cells seeded and analyzed using the non‐linear modeling of LDAcoop.

Work probability distribution and tossing a biased coin

open access: yes, 2010
We show that the rare events present in dissipated work that enters Jarzynski equality, when mapped appropriately to the phenomenon of large deviations found in a biased coin toss, are enough to yield a quantitative work probability distribution for ...

Distribution Features of Deviation and Determination of a Tolerance Method for Prefabricated Concrete Components

open access: yesBuildings, 2023
According to the current standards for prefabricated buildings, the dimensional tolerances of components are usually determined by experience, lacking a theoretical basis. This work demonstrates the mathematical distribution of the dimensional deviations

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.
