Measurement-Based Outage Probability Estimation for Mission-Critical Services
An accurate estimation of the service quality that the user will experience along a route can be extremely useful for mission-critical services. Based on availability and reliability estimations, it can provide the network with in-advance information on ...

On Probability Estimation by Exponential Smoothing
Probability estimation is essential for every statistical data compression algorithm. In practice probability estimation should be adaptive, recent observations should receive a higher weight than older observations.

When Will the Next Shock Happen? A Dynamic Framework for Event Probability Estimation
Extreme movements in financial time series pose challenges for risk management and forecasting, particularly when their timing is irregular and difficult to anticipate.

Optimal estimator of hypothesis probability for data mining problems with small samples
The paper presents a new (to the best of the authors’ knowledge) estimator of probability called the “Eph √ 2 completeness estimator” along with a theoretical derivation of its optimality. The estimator is especially suitable for a small number of sample

Conditional probability estimation [PDF]
This paper studies in particular an aspect of the estimation of conditional probability distributions by maximum likelihood that seems to have been overlooked in the literature on Bayesian networks: The information conveyed by the conditioning event ...

On Probability Estimation via Relative Frequencies and Discount
Probability estimation is an elementary building block of every statistical data compression algorithm. In practice probability estimation is often based on relative letter frequencies which get scaled down, when their sum is too large.

LDAcoop: Integrating non‐linear population dynamics into the analysis of clonogenic growth in vitro
Limiting dilution assays (LDAs) quantify clonogenic growth by seeding serial dilutions of cells and scoring wells for colony formation. The fraction of negative wells is plotted against cells seeded and analyzed using the non‐linear modeling of LDAcoop.

A New Definition of a Collision Zone For a Geometrical Model For Ship-Ship Collision Probability Estimation [PDF]
In this paper, a study on a newly developed geometrical model for ship-ship collisions probabil-ity estimation is conducted. Most of the models that are used for ship-ship collision consider a collision be-tween two ships a physical contact between them.

Estimating Ordered Probabilities
Let $X_i, Y_i i = 1, 2, \cdots n$ be mutually independent binomial random variables with $P\{X_i = 1\} = p_1, P\{Y_i = 1\} = p_2$. Let $\bar X_n = (1/n) \sum^n_{i = 1} X_i$ and $\bar Y_n = (1/n) \sum^n_{i = 1} Y_i$. We wish to estimate the parameter $p = (p_1, p_2)$. If the parameter space is $\Omega = \{p \mid 0 \leqq p_1 \leqq 1, 0 \leqq p_2 \leqq 1\}

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.
