Probability Weighting and Employee Stock Options [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, 2008
AbstractThis paper documents that riskier firms with higher idiosyncratic volatility grant more stock options to nonexecutive employees. Standard models in the literature cannot easily explain this pattern; a model in which a risk-neutral firm and an employee with prospect theory preferences bargain over the employee's pay package can.

Psychophysics of the Probability Weighting Function [PDF]

open access: yesSSRN Electronic Journal, 2011
Abstract A probability weighting function w ( p ) for an objective probability p in decision under risk plays a pivotal role in Kahneman–Tversky prospect theory. Although recent studies in econophysics and neuroeconomics widely utilized probability weighting functions, psychophysical foundations of the probability weighting functions

Music-evoked incidental happiness modulates probability weighting during risky lottery choices

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2014
We often make decisions with uncertain consequences. The outcomes of the choices we make are usually not perfectly predictable but probabilistic and the probabilities can be known or unknown.

Understanding Marginal Structural Models for Time-Varying Exposures: Pitfalls and Tips

open access: yesJournal of Epidemiology, 2020
Epidemiologists are increasingly encountering complex longitudinal data, in which exposures and their confounders vary during follow-up. When a prior exposure affects the confounders of the subsequent exposures, estimating the effects of the time-varying

Gender discrimination in the business school’s C-suite? Evidence from aggregate decomposition approaches

open access: yesFrontiers in Education, 2022
Workplace discrimination continues to at least be perceived as a problem by faculty and staff in higher education. The current study extends the academic literature in this area by exploring the possibility of gender discrimination in the wages of ...

Ethnic Differences in the Association Between SOD2 rs4880 and Hepatotoxicity in Pediatric Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia: A Report From the REDIAL Consortium

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Treatment‐associated hepatotoxicity (TAH) is a common complication of pediatric acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) treatment, but genetic risk factors remain poorly understood. We evaluated the SOD2 rs4880 variant in 544 children with ALL at Texas Children's Hospital. After adjusting for demographic and clinical covariates, the rs4880 C allele

A shocking experiment [PDF]

open access: yesJudgment and Decision Making, 2007
We study whether probability weighting is observed when individuals are presented with a series of choices between lotteries consisting of real non-monetary adverse outcomes, electric shocks.

Inverse-probability weighting and multiple imputation for evaluating selection bias in the estimation of childhood obesity prevalence using data from electronic health records

open access: yesBMC Medical Informatics and Decision Making, 2020
Background and objectives Height and weight data from electronic health records are increasingly being used to estimate the prevalence of childhood obesity.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.
