Prompt radiation as a probe for fission dynamics

Physics of Atomic Nuclei, 2011
It is shown that the Strutinsky-Denisov induced polarization mechanism leads to the appearance of the prompt electric dipole radiation from fission fragments of 235Uby thermal neutrons in the domain of around 5 MeV. The probability of the radiation is at the level of 0.001 per fission, which is in agreement with experiment.

Design and Application of In Situ Prompt‐Gamma Probe as a Salinometer

AIP Conference Proceedings, 1991
In situ survey of river salinity using a portable neutron‐gamma probe was conducted at northern Taiwan. The probe, consisting of a 40 μg 282Cf neutron source and a HPGe detector, was mounted on board a fishing boat to survey the salinity at river delta. The variations of water salinity along the river were mapped according to the tidal cycle. Detecting

Probing GRB Jet Structure from Prompt Emission

Chinese Journal of Astronomy and Astrophysics, 2005
Gamma-Ray Burst (GRB) prompt emission contains information that can be used to infer structure of the relativistic outflow. Spectral lags, the Internal Luminosity Function (ILF), and Color-Color Diagrams are attributes that provide diagnositcs with which jet structure can be studied.

A Probe Intermix Procedure for Fading Response Prompts

Behavioral Disorders, 1987
This paper describes a probe intermix procedure designed to fade teacher-provided response prompts in situations in which learner responses should be self-paced. The probe intermix strategy requires the initial pairing of prompts and natural cues followed by a mix of prompted and probe (unprompted) trials within training sessions.

Prompt Fission Neutrons as Probes to Nuclear Configurations at Scission

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2008
Prompt fission neutrons and gamma‐rays emitted by excited primary fission fragments are indirect probes to the nuclear configurations present near the scission point. By studying detailed characteristics of these quantities, it is shown that one can discriminate between various assumptions regarding the sharing of the free energy at scission among the ...
