Temporal Knowledge Generation for Medical Procedures [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Decision support systems (DSSs) in medicine are designed to aid medical professionals on making clinical decisions about prevention, diagnosis and corresponding treatment. When DSSs are applied to medical procedures, two sorts of predictions are possible: procedural (i.e. indications on what to do), and temporal (i.e.

Structural insights and therapeutic targets in Acinetobacter baumannii capsule biosynthesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Hypervirulent KL49 A. baumannii's capsular polysaccharide contains the nonulosonic acid 8‐epi‐Leg5,7Ac2, synthesized by epimerization via ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC. Crystal structures of ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC reveal their role in CMP‐Leg5,7Ac2 synthesis and regioselective C8 epimerization.

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

Computerized exercises to promote transfer of cognitive skills to everyday life

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychiatry, 2016
In recent years, computerized and non-computerized cognitive remediation programs have been designed for both individual and group settings. We believe however that a common misconception lies in considering the efficiency of a cognitive remediation ...

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

How and Why does the Multiplication Method Developed by the Russian Peasants Work?

open access: yesAraştırma Temelli Etkinlik Dergisi, 2018
In this article, an activity designed and implemented to improve both procedural knowledge and conceptual knowledge of multiplication is introduced. The students were physically and mentally active while exploring a multiplication method developed by the
