Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Fuzzy Testing Model Built on Confidence Interval of Process Capability Index CPMK

open access: yesAxioms
A variety of process capability indices are applied to the quantitative measurement of the potential and performance of processes in manufacturing. As it is easy to understand the formulae of these indices, this method is easy to apply.

Performance analysis and optimization in turning of ASTM A36 through process capability index

open access: yesJournal of King Saud University: Engineering Sciences, 2018
Organizations now a days acquaint process capability index (Cpi) to appraise the quality of their items with an aim to improve quality and cut down the operating costs which enhance the productivity and help them to stay competitive.

Development of a fuzzy loss-based process capability index [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Process capability indices are appropriate tools in order to measure the inherent capability of process, but most of these indices cannot take into account the losses of a process such as rejects, while in today’s competitive business environment, it is ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

A new asymmetric bounded loss-based process capability index [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Process capability indices such as Cp, Cpk, Cpu and Cpl are common metrics to evaluate and predict the performance of a process. Although higher process capability indices indicate higher process “quality”, but a high quality process does not necessarily

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...
