A general novel process capability index for normal and non-normal measurements

open access: yesAin Shams Engineering Journal
In this study, a new process capability index is proposed. The new index is quantile-based, can be used in normal and non-normal measurements, and is a general form of the conventional Cpm.

Overall Processes Capability Index for Assembly Production Lines [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied Sciences, 2009
This study develops a new method called Overall Processes Capability Index (OPCI) to measure the capability of assembly lines. After defining relation between percentage yield and process capability, the new definition of overall defective rate is developed for assembly lines in different cases (series and parallel processes).

Starfruit classification based on linear hue computation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
In this paper, a classification process to group starfruit into six maturity indices is proposed based on 1- dimensional color feature called hue, which is extracted from the starfruit image.

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...
