Distinct dysregulated pathways in sporadic and Lynch syndrome‐associated colorectal cancer offer insights for targeted treatment

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study explores the distinct molecular mechanisms underlying Lynch syndrome‐associated and sporadic colorectal cancer (CRC). By highlighting the therapeutic potential of targeting the PI3K‐Akt pathway in Lynch syndrome‐associated CRC and the Wnt pathway in sporadic CRC, the findings open avenues for personalised treatment strategies, aiming to ...

A template design and automated parametric model for sustainable corbel dwellings with interlocking blocks

open access: yesDevelopments in the Built Environment, 2023
Existing approaches to sustainable dwellings often involve high-tech equipment and skilled workers, which are less accessible in low-resource settings.

A cluster representation of the renewal Hawkes process [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
A cluster representation for a Hawkes process with renewal immigration is obtained. The centre and satellite processes are indicated as a renewal process and generalized branching processes respectively. It is confirmed that the proposed construction indeed represents a cluster process and it is verified that it admits the desired intensity.

Taurine promotes glucagon‐like peptide‐1 secretion in enteroendocrine L cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Taurine, a sulfur‐containing amino acid, is likely taken up by enteroendocrine L cells via the taurine transporter. This process increases the levels of cytosolic ATP. The increase in intracellular Ca2+ concentrations and glucagon‐like peptide‐1 secretion through membrane depolarization is caused by the closure of ATP‐sensitive potassium channels ...

Communicating Concurrent Processes [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
Process algebra CSP only permits a process to engage in one event on a moment and records this single event into the traces of the process. CSP cannot process events simultaneously, it treat the events occurred simultaneously as one single event. We modify CSP to process the events occurred simultaneously, which is called communicating concurrent ...

Unconventional mRNA processing and degradation pathways for the polycistronic yrzI (spyTA) mRNA in Bacillus subtilis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The S1025 peptide is the major antidote to the YrzI toxin, which we renamed here as SpyT (Small Peptide YrzI Toxin) and SpyA (Small Peptide YrzI Antitoxin) (1). Degradation of the toxin–antitoxin spyTA mRNA, either by a translation‐dependent cleavage by the endoribonuclease Rae1 (2) or by direct attack by 3′‐exoribonucleases (3), also contributes to ...

Volatile Kernel Rootkit hidden process detection in cloud computing

open access: yesJournal of Cloud Computing: Advances, Systems and Applications, 2023
The rootkit industry has advanced significantly in the last decade. Attackers want to leave a backdoor for quick reoccurring exploits rather than launching the traditional one-time worm/virus attacks.
