The Engineering Process

2006
Engineering highly flexible software systems for real-world applications on the basis of intelligent agents and multiagent systems is a challenging task. Conventional software engineering provides established methodologies and tool support. Additionally, knowledge engineering captures the necessary aspects of integrating knowledge in intelligent agents.

ADAPTIVE SYSTEMS IN PROCESS ENGINEERING

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1991
Abstract Potential applications of adaptive systems to solve process engineering problems are presented. The application domains include control, optimisation and estimation. Results of evaluation studies on industrial plants, as well as nonlinear simulations are used as illustrative examples. Implementation issues are also discussed in detail.

The Combustion Process in the Diesel Engine.

Chemical Reviews, 1938
The Diesel engine is characterized by injection of fuel in the combustion chamber and by selfignition. Both characteristics give rise to typical problems. The former characteristic, i.e., injection of the fuel with subsequent formation of a combustible mixture, is the fundamental one.

"Engineering" the wound-healing process

IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Magazine, 1999
Our group is studying the modulation of fibroblast behavior by various wound-healing agents. 3-D collagen gels were used as an in vitro wound model to study human dermal fibroblast behavior. In this article, we hypothesize that efficient contraction of the in vitro wound model is associated with gap junction (GJ) formation between cells and, conversely,

Process and Engineering

2003
Much of industry is beginning to recognize the importance of standardized and defined organization (company-wide) and functional (departmental and divisional) processes that support consistent high-quality systems, applications and methods for doing business. These processes allow a company to stay within budget and operate on a cost-effective schedule.
