Traceability in continuous ore beneficiation processes using process mineralogy signatures
Traceability is the means to identify and follow real or imaginary lots through a process chain. It gives the opportunity to back-track a chain of events, or to predict process outcomes given the origin of a lot.

This study demonstrates the feasibility of an underground closed‐loop thermal storage facility at a post‐mining site, intended for seasonal heat energy storage. Its principal design shows water flow directions in winter and summer (1, 2), heat pumps (3), an upper water reservoir (4), and connecting pipes (5).

Sensitivity and clay mineralogy of weathered tephra-derived soil materials in the Tauranga region
Soil sensitivity is defined as the ratio of peak to remoulded shear strength. Problem soil materials are those that show large strength losses on disruption, resulting in catastrophic failure, liquefaction and long run-out distances.

This study investigated the spatial patterns and development mechanisms of urban underground space (UUS) in Shanghai using underground points of interest data. It revealed distinct development mechanisms between the main city and suburbs, highlighting the need for differentiated UUS planning and policies to optimize underground space resources ...

Dynamic cracking properties and generating conditions of coal under rapid gas release
Gas release tests revealed that crack initiation and propagation are jointly controlled by initial crack length, residual strength, and gas release velocity. A new outburst risk coefficient was thus developed from a fracture mechanics perspective, offering a novel predictive approach.

Dynamic response at the terminus of oblique intersecting joints subjected to stress waves
This study derives the propagation equation for stress waves impinging upon nonlinear oblique intersecting joints. It analyzes the dynamic response at the terminus of nonlinear oblique intersecting joints subjected to stress waves. Abstract To investigate the dynamic response at the terminus of oblique intersecting joints subjected to stress waves, a ...

Nickel laterite processing technologies – where to next?
A review has been completed of current and proposed processing technologies for nickel laterite ores. Although future supplies of nickel depend on laterite ores, their processing is inherently energy intensive and expensive as, unlike sulphide ores ...
