Abstract As the use of formal methods for computer systems development is now widely taught and commonly practised, their use for business process modelling is now considered. In the same way that formal system models are used to rationalize the implementations of complex computer systems, formal process models may be used to rationalize system ...

Presents a method that is a generalization of hidden Markov modeling for the situations where elementary events cannot be clearly defined. A family of fuzzy sets, induced on a temporal universe, is used to model the dynamic trajectory of a physical system as a collection of hidden processes that coexist at the same time, but to different degrees.

Knowledge is connected to a subject (a theory, a lesson) but Process Knowledge is connected to an object and to its production process. This leads to the need for a specific approach to the actual use of process knowledge models while carrying out processes. Models may then be constructed to guide, support and provide advice or instructions to users.

IEEE Software, 1994
Cleanroom software engineering is a team-oriented process that makes development more manageable and predictable because it is done under statistical quality control. The philosophy behind cleanroom software engineering is to avoid dependence on costly defect-removal processes by writing code increments right the first time and verifying their ...

Modeling of magnetizing processes
Proceedings of the IEEE, 1990Quasi-static magnetic processes such as those found in magnetic recording are examined. The hysteresis in medium-hard magnetic materials of the type used in recording media and the magnetizability of soft magnetic materials such as those used in recording heads are discussed.

A Model of the Refinement Process
1992It is increasingly accepted that the top-down model of the design process is not realistic. Designers often work at many levels of abstraction simultaneously, applying insights gained at one level to modify both specifications and designs at other levels. A development method which will accommodate such opportunistic insights must allow the designer to

As-Is Modeling and Process Analysis
2003The identification of the core processes of a company is followed by the collection of detailed data related to these processes and an analysis of the currently performed processes. This information is the basis for identifying shortcomings and for recognizing potential improvements.
