Spatial-Temporal Evolution of Agricultural Carbon Balance at Township Scale and Carbon Compensation Zoning: A Case Study of Guangshui City, Hubei Province

open access: yesLand
Optimizing agricultural carbon compensation zoning is crucial for establishing robust mechanisms in agricultural carbon compensation management, with significant implications for achieving national “dual carbon” strategic objectives. This study employs K-

Weightlessness simulation system and process [PDF]

open access: yes, 1987
A weightlessness simulator has a chamber and a suit in the chamber. O-rings and valves hermetically seal the chamber. A vacuum pump connected to the chamber establishes a pressure in the chamber less than atmospheric pressure.

Stochastic Simulation of Process Calculi for Biology

open access: yes, 2010
Biological systems typically involve large numbers of components with complex, highly parallel interactions and intrinsic stochasticity. To model this complexity, numerous programming languages based on process calculi have been developed, many of which ...

Time after time – circadian clocks through the lens of oscillator theory

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Oscillator theory bridges physics and circadian biology. Damped oscillators require external drivers, while limit cycles emerge from delayed feedback and nonlinearities. Coupling enables tissue‐level coherence, and entrainment aligns internal clocks with environmental cues.

Vulnerability Assessment of Soil Erosion in Southwestern Hubei Province Based on RUSLE Model and Geographic Detector

open access: yesShuitu Baochi Xuebao
[Objective] Soil erosion is a prominent ecological problem in southwestern Hubei Province. A reasonable assessment of the vulnerability of soil erosion in this area and exploration of its driving mechanisms are prerequisites for effective soil and water ...

Dramatic differences in carbon dioxide adsorption and initial steps of reduction between silver and copper

open access: yesNature Communications, 2019
The recycling of CO2 into storable chemicals is critical in order to mitigate climate change, although CO2’s inert nature has limited the reduction’s mechanistic considerations.

Stereochemical engineering yields a multifunctional peptide macrocycle inhibitor of Akt2 by fine-tuning macrocycle-cell membrane interactions

open access: yesCommunications Chemistry, 2023
Macrocycle peptides are promising constructs for imaging and inhibiting extracellular, and cell membrane proteins, but their use for targeting intracellular proteins is typically limited by poor cell penetration.

Temporal and Spatial Changes and Driving Forces of Soil Properties in Subtropical Mountainous Areas from 2017 to 2020: A Case Study of Baokang County, Hubei Province, China

open access: yesLand, 2022
Understanding the mechanism of regional soil chemical property changes is crucial for guiding precise farming and further alleviating poverty in mountainous areas. Our aims were to monitor the temporal and spatial changes in the soil chemical property in

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

An Experimental Investigation of Reactive Absorption of Carbon Dioxide into an Aqueous NH3/H2O/NaOH Solution [PDF]

open access: yesIranian Journal of Oil & Gas Science and Technology, 2017
In this research, the reactive absorption of carbon dioxide in an aqueous solution of NH3, H2O, and NaOH has experimentally been investigated. The experiments were carried out in an absorption pilot plant in different operational conditions.
