Design Strategies for Optimized Bulk-Linearized MOS Pseudo-Resistor

open access: yesMicromachines
The bulk linearization technique is a design strategy used to extend the linear region of a metal oxide semiconductor field effect transistor (MOSFET) by increasing its saturation voltage through a composite structure and a gate biasing circuit.

Coal Temperature Variation Mechanism during Gas Desorption Process

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, 2018
To further reveal the mechanism of coal gas migration, the reasons for coal temperature changes during the methane desorption process were analyzed from the aspect of molecular motion and the thermodynamic theory.

Variation in shapes of coronoid process in human mandibles

open access: yesMRIMS Journal of Health Sciences, 2017
Background: Various shapes of coronoid process have been described, they are triangular, rounded and hook shape. The shape and size of the coronoid process is influenced by dietary habit, genetic constitution, hormones and mainly by temporalis muscle ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Segregated vowels : Language variation and dialect features among Gothenburg youth

open access: yes, 2018
This paper examines the effects of housing segregation on variation in the vowel systems of young speakers of Swedish who have grown up in different neighborhoods of Gothenburg. Significant differences are found for variants of the variables /i:/ and /y:/

Reliability-Driven HLS Binding: A Simulated Annealing Approach to Minimize Aging and Process Variation in Digital Circuits

open access: yesIEEE Access
The aggressive scaling of CMOS technology into the nanoscale regime has driven remarkable performance improvements. However, it has introduced significant reliability challenges due to stochastic aging and process variation (APV) effects, including Bias ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Power and bipower variation with stochastic volatility and jumps [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper shows that realised power variation and its extension we introduce here called realised bipower variation is somewhat robust to rare jumps.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.
