Rényi Cross-Entropy Measures for Common Distributions and Processes with Memory [PDF]
Two Rényi-type generalizations of the Shannon cross-entropy, the Rényi cross-entropy and the Natural Rényi cross-entropy, were recently used as loss functions for the improved design of deep learning generative adversarial networks.

The Processing-in-Memory Model [PDF]
As computational resources become more efficient and data sizes grow, data movement is fast becoming the dominant cost in computing. Processing-in-Memory is emerging as a key technique for reducing costly data movement, by enabling computation to be executed on compute resources embedded in the memory modules themselves.

Integral Equations of Non-Integer Orders and Discrete Maps with Memory
In this paper, we use integral equations of non-integer orders to derive discrete maps with memory. Note that discrete maps with memory were not previously derived from fractional integral equations of non-integer orders.

Polar Coding for Processes With Memory [PDF]
We study polar coding for stochastic processes with memory. For example, a process may be defined by the joint distribution of the input and output of a channel. The memory may be present in the channel, the input, or both. We show that $ψ$-mixing processes polarize under the standard Arıkan transform, under a mild condition.

BDNF and memory processing [PDF]
Brain-derived neurotrophic factor has emerged as one of the most important molecules involved in memory. Its wide role in different types of memories that depend on different structures as well as its involvement in distinct memory stages points at BDNF as one likely target to treat cognitive impairments and anxiety-related memory disorders.

Pricing of Commodity Derivatives on Processes with Memory
Spot option prices, forwards and options on forwards relevant for the commodity markets are computed when the underlying process S is modelled as an exponential of a process ξ with memory as, e.g., a Volterra equation driven by a Lévy ...

MicroRNAs in Memory Processing [PDF]
MicroRNAs are a class of small RNA molecules that regulate the expression of a wide variety of genes. In this issue of Neuron, Rajasethupathy and colleagues identify 170 distinct microRNAs in Aplysia, including one, miR-124, that plays a critical role in the regulation of signaling molecules underlying synaptic plasticity and memory.
