Real-time sound synthesis on a multi-processor platform [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
Real-time sound synthesis means that the calculation and output of each sound sample for a channel of audio information must be completed within a sample period. At a broadcasting standard, a sampling rate of 32,000 Hz, the maximum period available is 31.

A computationally efficient DAB bit-stream processor [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
This paper describes an MPEG (moving pictures expert group) audio layer II - LFE (lower frequency extension) bit-stream processor targeting DAB (digital audio broadcasting) receivers that will handle the decoding of the frames in a computationally ...

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Comparative Factors Influencing Patterns of Participation in Cassava Value Chain Activities Amongst Smallholder Processors in Kwara and Kogi State, Nigeria [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Agriculture and Rural Development Studies
Despite the high production of cassava in the two States, studies on processors value chain activities of cassava remain inadequate. This study ascertains comparative factors influencing patterns of participation in cassava value chain activities amongst

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

VLSI design of a pipelined CORDIC processor [PDF]

open access: yes
In this report we discuss the VLSI realisation of a pipelined CORDIC arithmetic unit to perform stable matrix row operations for the solution of systems of linear equations.

Quantitative Characterization of Reconfigurable Transistor Logic Gates

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
We present a new approach for early analysis of logic gates that is based on formal methods. As device technology research takes years and is very expensive, it is desirable to evaluate a technology's potential as early as possible, which is hard to do ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

A 64-point Fourier transform chip for high-speed wireless LAN application using OFDM

open access: yes, 2004
In this article, we present a novel fixed-point 16-bit word-width 64-point FFT/IFFT processor developed primarily for the application in the OFDM based IEEE 802.11a Wireless LAN (WLAN) baseband processor.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...
