From fresh water to the slope: fish community ecology in the Río de la Plata and the sea beyond [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The spatial pattern of fish assemblages and its relationship with factors along an environment gradient, from fresh to marine water environment along the Río de la Plata estuary (36ºS, 56ºW) the shelf and part of the slope, was examined using data from ...

Exploring ecohydrology through the lens of local fishers in the Bolivian Amazon

open access: yesEcosphere, Volume 17, Issue 4, April 2026.
Abstract The natural flow regimes of Andean‐Amazon tributaries play a vital role in sustaining their rich biodiversity and productive local fisheries, but ongoing and proposed alteration of river flow regimes by large dams threatens to negatively impact river ecosystems. Despite its importance, our understanding of how hydrologic variability influences

Scale morphology of Prochilodus lineatus with emphasis on the scale epithelium [PDF]

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Biology, 2013
The fish body is entirely covered by a thin, smooth and glandular epidermis, closely attached to the scales inserted on the dermis. The descriptive work on this tissue dates to twenty or thirty years ago, bears very little photographic record and does not focus on the scale epithelium, despite the fact that it is in direct contact with the environment.

Eco‐Evo‐Hydraulics: Integrating Fish Evolution Into Ecohydraulics for Conservation

open access: yesWater Resources Research, Volume 62, Issue 4, April 2026.
Abstract Riverine fish conservation in eco‐hydraulics is often based on restoring or regulating river habitat to a semi‐natural state. For example, ecohydraulic projects support fish populations by increasing river connectivity through fishways, and by maintaining or restoring natural flow variance to enhance habitat quality and availability.

Transporte de juvenis de curimbatá Prochilodus lineatus em diferentes densidades =Transportation of curimbata Prochilodus lineatus juveniles in different densities

open access: yesActa Scientiarum: Animal Sciences, 2010

Invasive Fishes Interact With Temperature to Reshape Community Size Structure Across Climatic Zones

open access: yesGlobal Change Biology, Volume 32, Issue 4, April 2026.
Non‐native fishes are reshaping lacustrine communities across climatic zones worldwide through trophic‐ and temperature‐dependent pathways that are leading to flatter size spectrum exponents and a decline in the total biomass of the native community.
