Lymphosarcoma in a Raccoon (Procyon lotor)
Journal of Wildlife Diseases, 1996A case of lymphosarcoma in a captive adult female raccoon (Procyon lotor) from northeastern Pennsylvania (USA) was observed in 1991. Prior to its death the raccoon had lost weight. At necropsy the carcass was in poor body condition and had pale mucous membranes. The thoracic and abdominal lymph nodes were enlarged, soft, and pale tan.

CLINICAL COCCIDIOSIS IN RACCOONS (PROCYON LOTOR)
Journal of Parasitology, 2000Clinical coccidiosis was diagnosed in wild-caught and captive raccoons. Eimeria procyonis-like oocysts were seen in 15 of 15 captive raccoons. In 6 of 6 juvenile wild-caught raccoons examined at necropsy, endogenous coccidian stages were seen in the small intestine. Two types of schizonts (large and small) were identified.

Ischemic Encephalopathy in Raccoons (Procyon lotor)
Journal of Wildlife Diseases, 1994An acute and chronic case of cerebral infarction syndrome in two raccoons (Procyon lotor) respectively is described. The raccoon with an acute form of the condition had clinical neurologic signs whereas the raccoon with a chronic form of the condition had no evident clinical signs. In neither raccoon were significant vascular lesions seen.

Journal of Wildlife Diseases, 1991Four hemoparasite species (Babesia lotori, Trypanosoma cruzi, Dirofilaria tenuis and Mansonella llewellyni) were found in raccoons (Procyon lotor) collected from 1972 to 1974 in Duval (n = 14) and Collier (n = 170) counties, Florida (USA). Thyroid Neoplasia in Captive Raccoons (Procyon lotor)
Journal of Zoo and Wildlife Medicine, 2010Two adult, spayed, female raccoons were diagnosed with thyroid neoplasia. One raccoon had a palpable, left-sided, nonfunctional thyroid adenocarcinoma which was treated with a thyroidectomy twice with local recurrence both times. After the second recurrence, pulmonary metastases were identified.
