Grinding Wheel Profile for Hob Relief Grinding

Journal of Mechanical Design, 1982
In this paper a method is described for the calculation of the dished and pencil grinding wheel profiles for relief grinding of hobs for manufacturing spur, helical, and worm gears. Archimedean, convolute, involute, and ground worm gear drives are dealt with. For the purposes of control of the calculated grinding wheel profiles and of the determination

A Basic Study on Profile Grinding with Elid

2005
A profile grinding system by the Electrolytic In-Process Dressing (ELID) technique was developed for precision tool. In order to obtain precise surface for complicated shapes of workpieces, straight and v-face cast iron bond diamond grinding wheels were mounted on the machine along with an optical projection system.

Gear profile grinding with metal bonded CBN tools

Production Engineering, 2014
For a high durability of stressed gears profile accuracy, compressive residual stress and a high surface quality of the ground gear flanks is required. In this context the suitability of metal bonded cubic boron nitride (CBN) tools for discontinuous profile grinding of gears is examined.

Markov Chain Models of Grinding Profiles

Journal of Engineering for Industry, 1964
Profiles of abrasive surfaces are analyzed by means of Markov chain theory. The Chapman-Kolmogorov equations, together with recurrent-event theory, are used to deduce theoretical distributions for such important statistics as the distances between effective cutting points and the lengths of lands on a worn grinding surface.
