Postsynaptic Complexin Mediates Constitutive Exocytosis of Nicotinic Acetylcholine Receptor

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Beyond its established presynaptic role, complexin is identified as a postsynaptic regulator of neurotransmitter receptor trafficking. By promoting constitutive and activity‐dependent exocytosis of nicotinic acetylcholine receptors, complexin controls spontaneous synaptic signaling at the C.

A High-density linkage map for Eucalyptus urophylla and E. grandis based on 1,100 F1 progenies genotyped with 6,000 SnP markers : P0474 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Next generation sequencing (NGS) technologies and high-throughput genotyping methods offer the possibility to produce dense linkage maps with highly reliable markers which can be anchored on the physical map of the genome.

Cis‐ and Trans‐Regulatory Factors Independently Shape Phenotypic Heterogeneity of Retinitis Pigmentosa

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A zebrafish model carrying an identical human RHO S334X allele reveals two independent genetic layers shaping retinitis pigmentosa (RP) severity: a protective 3‐bp cis‐regulatory insertion that attenuates transgene expression, and a dominant trans‐acting modifier that restores a severe phenotype.

Profiling Localized Immunomodulation and Drug Biodistribution within a Subcutaneous Vascularized Niche for Cell Transplantation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We studied how five common immunosuppressants behave when delivered directly to a transplant site instead of systemically. Using a vascularized implant for islet transplantation, we show that local delivery protects grafts, limits drug spread to the rest of the body, and produces distinct immune signatures.

Plant Genetic Engineering: Technological Pathways, Application Scenarios, and Future Directions

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This review maps the fast‐evolving landscape of plant genetic engineering, linking enabling platforms with trait‐focused applications in architecture optimization, stress resilience, yield improvement, and quality enhancement. It highlights how genome editing, transgenic strategies, and emerging multi‐gene approaches reshape breeding pipelines, while ...

Inferring on innate locust behavior with individual based models and an information criteria [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Locusts are grasshopper species that change behaviour, physiology, morphology and life history in response to crowding. This extreme form of phenotypic plasticity is called phase polyphenism.

ZSL Orchestrates Synaptonemal Complex Assembly as a Central Region Scaffold to Ensure Synapsis Fidelity and Crossover Control in Polyploid Meiosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A central molecular adaptor, ZSL, is identified that links transverse filaments ZYP1 to central element SCEP1/2 to drive synaptonemal complex assembly in Brassica napus. Loss of ZSL abolishes synaptonemal complex formation, disrupts meiotic chromosome segregation, and markedly increases crossovers, providing mechanistic insight into meiotic fidelity ...
