The C‐terminal region of KIF26B is indispensable for nephron progenitor condensation and kidney formation in mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
KIF26B plays an important role in kidney development. We engineered mice lacking the C‐terminal region of KIF26B and found severe kidney defects, including bilateral renal agenesis, similar to full Kif26b knockout mice. The mutation disrupted nephron progenitor condensation and reduced Gdnf‐Wnt11 signaling, showing that the KIF26B C‐terminal region is ...

Sex ratios in the progeny of androgenetic and gynogenetic YY male Nile tilapia, Oreochromis niloticus L.

open access: yes, 2004
To investigate alternative routes to develop YY males and to examine some of the factors responsible for departures from predicted sex ratios in the Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus), YY males were produced (i) by androgenesis from XY male parents ...

Rescue of early heart-shaped embryos and plant regeneration of Phaseolus polyanthus Greenm. and Phaseolus vulgaris [PDF]

open access: yesBiotechnologie, Agronomie, Société et Environnement, 1999
In order to improve plant recovery from early heart-shaped Phaseolus embryos, several refinements were made to the embryo rescue technique developed previously in our laboratory. Using Phaseolus polyanthus Greenm. and Phaseolus vulgaris L.

Small RNA pathways in mammalian oocytes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Three distinct small RNA pathways operate in mammalian oocytes: RNAi interference (RNAi), the microRNA (miRNA) pathway, and the PIWI‐associated RNA (piRNA) pathway. These pathways use small RNAs to guide sequence‐specific repression and contribute to oocyte biology by targeting genes and mobile elements or appear insignificant since different ...

ATZ‐1 promotes DNA replication efficiency to maintain normal meiotic function

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Absence of ATZ‐1 interferes with meiotic DNA replication and cell cycle function via CHK‐1. This causes downstream defects associated with DNA damage and genomic integrity. Taken together, this study suggests that ATZ‐1 influences DNA replication efficiency and cell cycle function to maintain normal meiotic function.

The Progeny Entailment

open access: yes, 2021
The Entailment (assigning a fixed asset for charity) is a donation for the sake of Allah. The benefit of this entailment will be distributed on those individuals upon whom the entailment (Waqf) is designated.

Replacing dietary sodium selenite with a lower level of hydroxy-selenomethionine improves the performance of broiler breeders and their progeny

open access: yesItalian Journal of Animal Science, 2021
The aim of this study has been to compare the effect of sodium selenite (SS) or hydroxy-selenometionine (OH-SeMet) on the performance of broiler breeders and their progeny.
