Human endometrial cell coculture reduces the endocrine disruptor toxicity on mouse embryo development [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
BACKGROUNDS: Previous studies suggested that endocrine disruptors (ED) are toxic on preimplantation embryos and inhibit development of embryos in vitro culture.

Juvenile Male Rats Exposed to a Low-Dose Mixture of Twenty-Seven Environmental Chemicals Display Adverse Health Effects [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Humans are exposed to a large number of environmental chemicals in their daily life, many of which are readily detectable in blood or urine. It remains uncertain if these chemicals can cause adverse health effects when present together at low doses.

Epigenetic Effects of Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers on Human Health. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Disruption of epigenetic regulation by environmental toxins is an emerging area of focus for understanding the latter's impact on human health. Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs), one such group of toxins, are an environmentally pervasive class of ...

From Fertilisation to Implantation in Mammalian Pregnancy-Modulation of Early Human Reproduction by the Endocannabinoid System. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
There is an increasing recognition that the endocannabinoid system is the crucial cytokine-hormone system regulating early human pregnancy. The synchronous development of the fertilized embryo and the endometrium to ensure timely implantation has been ...

Differential Effects of Phenanthrene and Its Chlorinated Congeners on Hormone Production and Mitochondrial Function in Ovarian Granulosa Cells

open access: yesToxics
Halogenated derivatives of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), such as chlorinated PAHs (ClPAHs), are an emerging class of contaminants that are being detected in the environment as well as in wildlife and human populations.

Synthesis and biological evaluation of novel amidinourea and triazine congeners as inhibitors of MDA-MB-231 human breast cancer cell proliferation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
A series of novel amidinourea derivatives has been synthesised and the new compounds have been evaluated as inhibitors of MDA-MB-231 human breast cancer cell proliferation.

Bioaccumulation of PCB & DDE methyl sulfones in marine mammals and their interactions with receptor proteins [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
PCB and DDE-Methyl sulphone metabolites are the product of enzymatic and bile acid entero hepatic metabolism in the final phase (III) of PCB and DDE detoxification in mammals following hepatic microsomal cytochrome P450-dependent metabolism (phase I) and

Exon 7 splicing of ERα predicts poor prognosis and increases phenotypic heterogeneity in luminal a subtype breast cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
ERα splice variant ERα∆7 lacks the C‐terminus, and its expression may change phenotypes of breast cancers. Our results showed that ERα∆7 is found in the luminal A subtype, and elevated ERα∆7 levels are linked to improved cell survival with lower proliferation and migration.

Exposure to polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) suppresses the release of pro-inflammatory products by alveolar macrophages in vitro [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Endocrine disrupting chemicals have adverse effects on immune function that may result in respiratory conditions. Inhalation of dust is a major route of exposure to PBDEs; however, the impact of PBDEs on the immune response is unclear.

A Surface‐engineered Microfluidic Device for Antibody‐Mediated Negative Selection of High‐Quality Sperm for Assisted Reproduction

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study reports a microfluidic device with a functionalized surface utilizing a polyoxazoline coating and covalently immobilized gold nanoparticles and anti‐phosphatidylserine antibody. The device efficiently eliminates pre‐apoptotic and apoptotic spermatozoa and yields sperm with substantially improved quality and low DNA damage, offering a simple ...
