Managing Underperformance Risk in Project Portfolio Selection
We consider a project selection problem where each project has an uncertain return with partially characterized probability distribution. The decision maker selects a feasible subset of projects so that the risk of the portfolio return not meeting a specified target is minimized.

Framework for Integrated Project Portfolio Selection and Adjustment
IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, 2019Project portfolio frameworks usually present the selection and adjustment phases sequentially, lacking the perspective that these phases can be performed iteratively, allowing feedback looping. This paper aims to narrow this gap by investigating the interactions between selection and adjustment phases, and the effects on project portfolio efficiency ...

An integrated framework for project portfolio selection
International Journal of Project Management, 1999Abstract The task of selecting project portfolios is an important and recurring activity in many organizations. There are many techniques available to assist in this process, but no integrated framework for carrying it out. This paper simplifies the project portfolio selection process by developing a framework which separates the work into distinct ...

Dynamic Project Portfolio Selection in Infrastructure Sector
Infrastructure networks are vital to the national economy. Their Asset Management (AM) should result in long-term economic efficiency and optimal service levels. For AM to live up to the expectations of infrastructure sector, it has to meet four key challenges: 1) alignment of strategy and operations with stakeholder values and objectives; 2) balancing

Energy project portfolio selection and scheduling
In the present work, we formulated an integrated method in order to confront two problems regarding a project portfolio that contains energy projects and/or proposals for projects to be implemented in the future.

Project and Portfolio Selection
2021Selecting one or more projects out of a set of candidate projects to maintain a project portfolio under limited resources is a critical decision for organizations. The project selection problem is inherently a multi-objective problem and is treated as such in this Chapter. Several models and solution techniques including Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP)

INHIBITORS TO OPTIMAL PROJECT PORTFOLIO SELECTION
The selection of projects and programs of work is a key function of both public and private sector organisations. Ideally, projects and programs that are selected to be undertaken are consistent with strategic objectives for the organisation; will ...

Multiobjective optimization for project portfolio selection
Proceedings of the 14th annual conference companion on Genetic and evolutionary computation, 2012This paper proposes a multiobjective heuristic search approach to support a project portfolio selection technique on scenarios with a large number of candidate projects. The original formulation for the technique requires analyzing all combinations of candidate projects, which is unfeasible when more than a few alternatives are available.

Project Portfolio Selection: A Newsvendor Approach
Decision Sciences, 2016ABSTRACTWe consider the problem of balancing the penalties associated with budgetary slack (being underbudget) and cost overruns in the project portfolio selection problem by addressing randomness in project costs and making individual project budgets decision variables. Setting the budget for a single project is shown to be analogous to the newsvendor
