Evolutionarily divergent DUF4465 domains have a common vitamin B12‐binding function
We show that DUF4465 family proteins, widespread across bacteria from gut microbiomes, hydrothermal vents, and soil, share a common vitamin B12‐binding function. These augmented β‐jellyroll proteins bind vitamin B12 via extended loops. Our findings establish sequence‐diverse DUF4465 proteins as a widespread class of B12‐binding proteins, highlighting ...

Summary. In the class of all collinearity structures a subclass of (dimension free) projective spaces, defined by means of a suitable axiom system, is singled out. Whenever a real vector space V is at least 3-dimensional, the structure ProjectiveSpace(V)

Finite Projective Planes with Affine Subplanes
A well-known theorem, due to R. H. Bruck ([4], p. 398), is the following:If a finite projective plane of order n has a projective subplane of order m < n, then either n = m2 or n > m 2+ m.In this paper we prove an analagous theorem concerning ...

Bounded proper forcing axiom and well orderings of the reals
. We show that the bounded proper forcing axiom BPFA implies that there is a well-ordering of P(ω1) whichisΔ1 definable with parameter a subset of ω1. Our proof shows that if BPFA holds then any inner model of the universe of sets that correctly computes

Why human connection is the true metric of research success
Human‐centred mentorship can be shaped by mentor attributes, actions, intrinsic drive and career ambition. Drawing on reflections across Singapore and France, as well as workshop insights from FEBS‐IUBMB ENABLE 2024, this article shows that human‐centred mentorship creates the conditions for sustainable growth, well‐being and retention in research ...
