Characterization of Newly Discovered Polyester Polyurethane‐Degrading Methylobacterium aquaticum Strain A1

open access: yesJournal of Basic Microbiology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In this study, we present Methylobacterium aquaticum A1, a novel strain capable of degrading polyester polyurethane (PE‐PUR). The attachment of M. aquaticum A1 to PE‐PUR and its degradation capabilities were verified using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and Fourier‐Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FT‐IR).

Gramicidin and chlorhexidine encapsulated in bicontinuous microemulsions: Antimicrobial activity performance and their impact on self‐assembly

open access: yesJournal of Surfactants and Detergents, EarlyView.
Interaction of gramicidin D (gD) and chlorhexidine (CH) with the surfactant monolayers of bicontinuous microemulsions. Abstract The utility of bicontinuous microemulsions (BMEs) as carriers of the antimicrobial peptide (AMP) gramicidin D and antiseptic chlorhexidine was investigated for possible topical delivery to chronic wounds.

Seagrasses under stress: Independent negative effects of elevated temperature and light reduction at multiple levels of organization

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography, EarlyView.
Abstract Seagrasses are important foundation species, which support coastal biodiversity and provide socioeconomic benefits. However, seagrasses are threatened by anthropogenic changes, including the elevated temperature associated with marine heatwaves (MHWs) and light limitation from eutrophication or increased sedimentation.

Trophic strategies of freshwater nanoflagellates under variable run‐off scenarios

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography, EarlyView.
Abstract Terrestrial run‐off is increasing in temperate lakes due to climate change and can lead to loading of colored dissolved organic matter (cDOM) and nutrients, thus reducing light availability and increasing carbon, nitrogen, and phosphorus. Run‐off events are highly irregular, resulting in temporal resource variability that may determine the ...
