Cryptic Ontogenetic Changes in the Ventral Coloration of a Color Polymorphic Wall Lizard (Podarcis muralis)

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Zoology Part A: Ecological and Integrative Physiology, EarlyView.
Wall lizards' ventral coloration undergoes cryptic ontogenetic color changes invisible without UV vision. We tracked wall lizards from hatching to one year of age. Spectrophotometry and visual modeling reveal that juveniles show a distinct UV‐enhanced white coloration that changes differently across sexes and body regions.

Quantitative Confounder Analysis of Electrocardiogram Signals in Cardiac Magnetic Resonance at 1.5, 3 and 7 T—Assessing Standardized Electrode Positions and Sequence Types—Towards Quality Assurance

open access: yesJournal of Magnetic Resonance Imaging, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background The electrocardiogram (ECG) used for gating in cardiac MRI may be compromised by multiple confounders inside the scanner bore. Purpose To quantify the influence of magnetic field strengths (1.5 T/3 T/7 T), standardized electrode positions, and imaging sequences on ECG signals used for gating. Study Type Prospective.

Correlation between seizure in children and prolonged QT interval

open access: yesARYA Atherosclerosis, 2013
BACKGROUND: Long QT is a cardiac electrical disorder. One of the symptoms of long QT caused by fatal ventricular arrhythmia is seizure. In some studies it was indicated that up to 35% of seizures induced by long QT may be misdiagnosed as other causes of ...

Sonographic Patellar and Quadriceps Tendon Length Pre‐ and Post‐Autograft Harvest: Reliability and Concurrent Validity

open access: yesJournal of Orthopaedic Research, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Extensor mechanism autografts used for anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction, namely bone‐patellar tendon‐bone (BPTB) and quadriceps tendon (QT), may result in harvest‐site tendon elongation. Extended field of view (EFOV) ultrasound imaging has the potential to evaluate changes in tendon length, but the reliability and validity of these ...

Functional data analytic approach of modeling ECG T-wave shape to measure cardiovascular behavior

open access: yes, 2010
The T-wave of an electrocardiogram (ECG) represents the ventricular repolarization that is critical in restoration of the heart muscle to a pre-contractile state prior to the next beat.

The Effect of Intravenous Lidocaine on QTc Changes During Spinal Anesthesia in Elderly Patients [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Prolonged QT interval may lead to serious arrhythmias and ventricular fibrillation, hence prevention of the QT-interval prolongation is crucial for physicians.

Quadriceps, hamstring and patella tendon autografts for primary anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction demonstrate similar clinical outcomes, including graft failure, joint laxity and complications: A systematic review with meta‐analysis of randomised controlled trials

open access: yesKnee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose Graft failure following anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR) remains a significant challenge, driving discussion for optimal graft choice. Traditionally, hamstring tendon (HT) and bone‐patella tendon‐bone (BPTB) autografts have been favoured for ACLR. Recently, quadriceps tendon (QT) usage has increased.
