Tamoxifen-induced QT interval prolongation
Journal of Clinical Pharmacy and Therapeutics, 2008We report on a case of tamoxifen-induced QT interval prolongation in a 56-year-old-female patient with hormone-dependent carcinoma of the right breast, stage T2N0M0, grade 3 and HER-2 negative. Partial mastectomy with axillary lymph node excision was performed in July 2007 with adjuvant hormonal and radiation therapy.

QT Interval Prolongation: And the Beat Goes on
Mini-Reviews in Medicinal Chemistry, 2005Consideration of QT interval prolongation and the risk for developing torsade de pointes is a critical issue in the evaluation of new bioactive agents. Over the past several years, there has been a dramatic increase in understanding the I(Kr) channel and its role in the duration of the action potential and cardiac repolarization. Furthermore, a variety

Electrocardiographic implications of the prolonged QT interval
The American Journal of Emergency Medicine, 2013The QT interval measures the time from the start of the QRS complex to the end of the T wave. Prolongation of the QT interval may lead to malignant ventricular tachydysrhythmias, including torsades de pointes. Causes of QT prolongation include congenital abnormalities of the sodium or potassium channel, electrolyte abnormalities, and medications ...

Aliskiren-Induced QT Interval Prolongation
Southern Medical Journal, 2009Aliskiren gained FDA approval for the treatment of hypertension in 2007. It is the first approved pharmaceutical to manage hypertension by direct renin inhibition. With the introduction of novel drugs and mechanisms of action comes the challenge of monitoring for new unreported adverse events.

Biventricular Pacing and QT Interval Prolongation
Journal of Cardiovascular Electrophysiology, 2007Introduction: The purpose of this study was to examine BiV pacing‐dependent changes in QT interval and the related potential for proarrhythmia. Biventricular (BiV) pacing has emerged as a promising therapy for patients with advanced congestive heart failure (CHF) and bundle branch block (BBB).

In response to the prolonged QT interval and use of the TpTe interval…
The American Journal of Emergency Medicine, 2013We thank you for your feedback and commentary regarding our original submission. In response to the questions regarding measurements of QTc, it is our practice to manually measure the QT interval in cases where we are concerned, and we typically use the Bazett formula for calculation of the QTc.

QT-Interval Prolongation Produced by Probucol
Archives of Internal Medicine, 1981To the Editor. —Probucol (4,4′-[(1-methylethylidene) bis (thio)] bis [2,6-bis(1,1-dimethylethyl) phenol]) is a recently introduced drug for the lowering of serum cholesterol levels in familial hypercholesterolemia type II. 1,2 Side effects are considered slight, and no ECG abnormalities have been reported in humans receiving probucol. 2,3 This article

Low-Energy Diets and Prolonged QT Intervals
JAMA: The Journal of the American Medical Association, 1987To the Editor.— In a recent review entitled "Prolonged QT-Interval Syndromes," 1 the author indicates that "prolongation of the QT interval, malignant ventricular arrhythmias, and unexpected sudden death have been reported in patients who have lost considerable weight on the very-low-energy liquid protein diets." Dr Moss states that "sustained use of ...
