A Dichotomous Approach to Reduce Rank Reversal Occurrences in PROMETHEE II Rankings [PDF]

open access: possible, 2019
Multicriteria methods based on pairwise comparisons suffer from rank reversal occurrences when the set of alternatives is modified. In this paper, we consider an alternative PROMETHEE-based method to compute pre-orders. This should lead to face less rank reversal (RR) occurrences than in the traditional Promethee II ranking. It is based on hierarchical

Best criteria selection based PROMETHEE II method

OPSEARCH, 2020
In recent years, PROMETHEE II has emerged as one of the most efficient and successfully applied outranking method in multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) problems. Conventional PROMETHEE II method presumes that the weights of the criteria are known beforehand, and this is rather a stringent assumption.

On the Influence of Altering the Action Set on PROMETHEE II’s Relative Ranks

2017
For some multi-criteria decision aid methods, the relative ranks of two actions may be inverted when the original set is altered. This phenomenon is known as rank reversal. In this contribution, we formalise rank reversal for the Prometheei¾źII method.

An improved PROMETHEE II method based on Axiomatic Fuzzy Sets

Neural Computing and Applications, 2014
This paper proposes an improved Preference Ranking Organization Method for Enrichment Evaluations II method based on Axiomatic Fuzzy Sets (AFS). With AFS, the preference functions of alternatives can be easily decided by the ranking and difference degrees of performance values on each attribute.

An alternative weight sensitivity analysis for PROMETHEE II rankings

Omega, 2018
Abstract Most strategic decision problems involve the simultaneous optimization of several conflicting criteria. Among multicriteria decision aid methods, PROMETHEE II has earned some attention during the past decades. This method outputs a complete ranking of a set of alternatives, given some parameters provided by a decision maker, such as the ...

Ensemble PROMETHEE II Method for Port Competitiveness Evaluation

International Journal on Advances in Information Sciences and Service Sciences, 2012
Abstract PROMETHEE is an important method for multi-criteria decision-making. Inspired by ensemble methods, this paper proposes an ensemble PROMETHEE II model, in which multiple preference functions are used to reduce the risk of choosing a particularly preference function.

Inferring criteria's relative importance coefficients in PROMETHEE II

International Journal of Operational Research, 2010
Most of decision aid models involve parameters that allow modelling the decision-maker's preferences. These parameters' values must be determined with the decision-maker's collaboration. Notably, this is the case for the criteria's relative importance coefficients (RICs).

P2CLUST: An extension of PROMETHEE II for multicriteria ordered clustering

2013 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management, 2013
We address the problem of multicriteria ordered clustering i.e. The detection of ordered categories in a multicriteria context. Therefore, we propose an extension of PROMETHEE II called P2CLUST. The algorithm is both inspired by the k-means procedure and the underlying idea of the FLOWSORT method. The algorithm is tested on two real examples.

An adaptive questioning procedure for eliciting PROMETHEE II's weight parameters

International Journal of Multicriteria Decision Making, 2014
For most decision making problems, finding representative parameters of a decision maker’s preferences remains a challenging task. We adapt to the PROMETHEE II outranking method an eliciting procedure named Q-Eval that has been developed in the context of multi-attribute utility theory (MAUT).
