The pectoralis muscle orientation as an indicator of the modes of wing‐propelled locomotion in birds
The pectoralis orientation of birds was consistent with the orientation of the aerodynamic force acting on the wing, varying by wing‐propelled locomotion (WPL) mode. The skeletal morphology unique to each WPL mode, related to the origin/insertion of the pectoralis, may be associated with these functional demands of pectoralis orientation.

Our μCT‐based pilot study reveals size and shape disparity in the adult postcranial skeleton of growth‐hormone model (bGH) mice relative to wild‐type mice. bGH mice have larger and more sexually dimorphic bones, with a systemic radiodensity increase in bony sesamoids and associated, but typically uncalcified, soft tissues.

Ultrasound Evaluation of the Abductor Hallucis Muscle in Youth: A Reliability Study
ABSTRACT Introduction Abductor hallucis (AbdH) is an intrinsic foot muscle and a stabiliser of the medial longitudinal arch. Its cross‐sectional area (CSA) is routinely measured by ultrasound (US) and is highly relevant to foot muscle development. However, the reliability of portable US for measuring AbdH CSA in healthy youth is unknown. Therefore, the

This article introduces a novel, single‐operator stress ultrasound technique for evaluating medial ulnar collateral ligament (MUCL) integrity by assessing medial ulnohumeral joint (MUHJ) widening under valgus stress. Unlike prior methods requiring dual operators, specialized equipment, or the use of hand/wrist weights, this approach was designed for ...

Kinesiotaping Techniques to Alter Static Load in Patients With Foot Pronation
This study aimed to assess the effect of kinesio tape (KT) application on foot pronation using the laser postural alignment system.Twenty participants (10 females and 10 males, mean age 19.7 ± 1.2 years) with foot pronation were included in the study.

Abstract We compared the effects of upper‐limb (handgrip) and lower‐limb (knee extension) isometric training on ambulatory blood pressure in individuals with controlled hypertension. In this randomized controlled trial, 67 adults receiving antihypertensive medication were allocated to a control group (CG, n = 22), small muscle mass isometric training ...

Black‐tailed prairie dogs are highly social ground squirrels that excavate communal burrow systems, most often in medium‐textured soils. Their forelimbs demonstrate morphofunctional trade‐offs for scratch‐digging and terrestrial ecology, including well‐developed and fast‐contracting proximal musculature with large mechanical advantage paired with ...
