Linear orthotropic viscoelasticity model for fiber reinforced thermoplastic material based on Prony series

Mechanics of Time-Dependent Materials, 2016
Material properties description and understanding are essential aspects when computational solid mechanics is applied to product development. In order to promote injected fiber reinforced thermoplastic materials for structural applications, it is very relevant to develop material characterization procedures, considering mechanical properties variation ...

Estimation of the dynamical properties of polyurethane foam through use of Prony series

Journal of Sound and Vibration, 2003
A system identification procedure is formulated for estimation of parameters associated with a dynamic model of a single-degree-of-freedom foam-mass system. The foam is modelled as a linear viscoelastic material, whose constitutive law is expressed by an exponential hereditary relaxation kernel.

Numerical Analysis of Relaxation Test Based on Prony Series Material Model

2011
In performing an experimental analysis it is always important to take into account different parameters influencing the results. Boundary conditions in addition to the specimen size in case of nonlinear materials could be even more effective. Hence, a full analysis of these parameters before doing any test on the real material seems necessary.

Time Domain Finite Element Simulations of Damped Multilayered Beams Using a Prony Series Representation

Mechanics of Time-Dependent Materials, 2000
The dynamic response of steel beams treated with variousconfigurations of constrained viscoelastic layers is consideredexperimentally and analytically. The cantilevered sandwich beams aresubjected to spike inputs and large finite rotations. Frequency domainviscoelastic material properties provided by the manufacturer areconverted to the Prony series ...

Damping of Cantilever Beams With Constrained Viscoelastic Layers Using a Prony Series Representation

Noise Control and Acoustics, 1998
Abstract The response of cantilevered steel beams treated with various configurations of constrained viscoelastic layers is considered experimentally and analytically. Modal analyses and spike input tests are performed. Analysis of the response of the beams to spike input loading is performed in the time domain using a Prony series ...

Evaluation of relaxation and creep curve by application of peleg linearization and prony series

Progress in Agricultural Engineering Sciences, 2018
In practice, there is a demand for quick characterization of rheological properties of food materials. The exact model calculation requires complex and long-term mathematical process. In this work, a simple, quick linearization method – the Peleg linearization – is discussed and is compared with the Prony series method.

The Research of Noise Stability of the Prony's Method While Processing of Cardiological Time Series

2019 International Multi-Conference on Engineering, Computer and Information Sciences (SIBIRCON), 2019
Since mortality from cardiovascular diseases continues to rise, the task of their early diagnosis is urgent. One of the criteria of quality of electrocardiogram processing (initial stage of diagnostics) is noise stability of the method used during processing.

Prony method implementation in distance relays to mitigate the effect of series-compensated transmission lines

Electrical Engineering, 2016
This paper characterizes the error in distance relay operation due to the existence of asynchronous frequency components when a fault in a line with series compensation occurs. The distance relay model and the impact of non-filtered frequency components using the conventional digital filters is presented, an error will appear in voltage and current ...

Modelling Linear Viscoelastic Behaviour of Kanpur Local Soil Using Prony Series, Parameter Fitting

2018
This paper aims at presenting a more versatile and general method to determine the rheological (time-dependent) properties of soil, using prony series parameter fitting. The time dependent stress-strain test data (creep data) of soil is used to evaluate the prony-series parameters adopting the method of nonlinear least squares fit.

Viscoelastic Creep Compliance Using Prony Series and Spectrum Function Approach

The objective of this study is to compare the viscoelastic material property of a vinyl ester (VE) resin using (1) the generalized 3-D viscoelastic constitutive equation with a Prony series representation and (2) a spectrum function model. The Prony series representation of the Generalized Kelvin model (GKM) is used to determine the Prony series ...
