Private Proof-of-Stake Blockchains using Differentially-private Stake Distortion [PDF]
Safety, liveness, and privacy are three critical properties for any private proof-of-stake (PoS) blockchain. However, prior work (SP\u2721) has shown that to obtain safety and liveness, a PoS blockchain must in theory forgo privacy.

Three Attacks on Proof-of-Stake Ethereum
Recently, two attacks were presented against Proof-of-Stake (PoS) Ethereum: one where short-range reorganizations of the underlying consensus chain are used to increase individual validators' profits and delay consensus decisions, and one where adversarial network delay is leveraged to stall consensus decisions indefinitely. We provide refined variants

Account Management in Proof of Stake Ledgers [PDF]
Blockchain protocols based on Proof-of-Stake (PoS) depend—by nature—on the active participation of stakeholders. If users are offline and abstain from the PoS consensus mechanism, the system’s security is at risk, so it is imperative to explore ways to both maximize the level of participation and minimize the effects of non-participation.

Abstract We proposed a decentralized cryptocurrency protocol named proof of activity and stake in which participants have no admittance threshold and communicate in peer-to-peer network. Our protocol adopts the idea of stakeholders in proof of stake and combined it with the propagation activity to replace the resource-costly proof of work.

A Memo on the Proof-of-Stake Mechanism
We analyze the economic incentives generated by the proof-of-stake mechanism discussed in the Ethereum Casper upgrade proposal. Compared with proof-of-work, proof-of-stake has a different cost structure for attackers. In Budish (2018), three equations characterize the limits of Bitcoin, which has a proof-of-work mechanism.

The paper examines decentralized cryptocurrency protocols that are based on the use of internal tokens as identity tools. An analysis of security problems with popular Proof-of-stake consensus protocols is provided. A new protocol, Interactive Proof-of-stake, is proposed.
