Direct measurement of propagation losses in silver nanowires

Optics Letters, 2010
We demonstrate a simple, direct measurement of propagation losses in single silver nanowires. Using a waveguiding nanoscale fiber taper for highly efficient launching, propagation surface plasmon polaritons are excited in the silver nanowire with high efficiency. The output intensity as light radiation at the end of the nanowire is quantified with high

Anomalous Propagation Loss in Photonic Crystal Waveguides

Physical Review Letters, 2004
Propagation loss can occur in photonic crystal waveguides without complete optical confinement. We employ a highly efficient transfer-matrix method which allows for accurate and reliable extraction of the propagation loss even at an extremely low level.

MIMO radar detection with heterogeneous propagation losses

2012 IEEE Statistical Signal Processing Workshop (SSP), 2012
A multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) radar can utilize distributed antennas to improve detection performance. Some existing works model bistatic path gains as identically and independently distributed random variables, and the known distinct features between propagation paths are neglected.

Propagation analysis of MIMO ad hoc network in hybrid propagation model and implement less propagation loss algorithm to find the minimum loss route

International Journal of Information and Communication Technology, 2017
Developing applications, especially real time ones mobile ad hoc network MANET requires a reasonable assurance of the likely performance of the network. MANET is realised by mobile nodes which communicate difficult task. Amongst many important properties of radio propagation model has to be selected carefully.

Prediction of urban propagation loss

IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, 1994
Two significantly different methods to calculate the path loss in urban areas are investigated in order to test their applicability to predicting the received power of a broadband DAB signal for mobile reception. The results were verified by broadband measurements of the received power in a DAB single-frequency network recently installed in Munich ...

Propagation Delay and Loss Analysis for Bacteria-Based Nanocommunications

IEEE Transactions on NanoBioscience, 2016
Flagellated bacteria have been suggested as one of the means to deliver information at nanoscales due to their ability to store massive amounts of data in their DNA strands and their mobility properties. In this paper, the propagation delay and message loss rates are mathematically derived for bacterial nanocommunications.

Measurements of beyond horizon propagation loss

2011 IEEE-APS Topical Conference on Antennas and Propagation in Wireless Communications, 2011
The behavior of the path loss between two base stations has been investigated via measurements using one fixed transmitter and a helicopter-borne receiver. This has allowed the gathering of data for a range of distances and antenna heights, including beyond horizon conditions and antennas below and above the clutter.

VLF propagation loss to a buried seismometer

IEEE Journal of Oceanic Engineering, 1988
The propagation loss from a shallow underwater explosion to a buried vertically polarized seismometer over the frequency band between 3 and 15 Hz was measured during the 1983 Ngendei Experiment. The data was recorded in 5.5-km-deep water in the southwest Pacific with a triaxial borehole seismograph emplaced 50 m within the basaltic basement.

Propagation Losses in Fibers and Waveguides

2011
In view of the very small propagation losses for light guided via high-purity optical fibers drawn from highly transparent glasses with linear attenuation coefficients below 10−4–10−5 cm−1, one could think of the necessity to develop extremely sensitive measurement procedures detecting internal losses in such fibers.
