Drought propagation in space and time: the role of groundwater flows

open access: yesEnvironmental Research Letters, 2022
Droughts cause large economic and social impacts all over the world. During drought, groundwater maintains streamflow and can help to mitigate impacts. It governs how drought propagates through the hydrological cycle.

Numerical time propagation of quantum systems in radiation fields

open access: yes, 2013
Atoms, molecules or excitonic quasiparticles, for which excitations are induced by external radiation fields and energy is dissipated through radiative decay, are examples of driven open quantum systems.

Targeted modulation of IGFL2‐AS1 reveals its translational potential in cervical adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cervical adenocarcinoma patients face worse outcomes than squamous cell carcinoma counterparts despite similar treatment. The identification of IGFL2‐AS1's differential expression provides a molecular basis for distinguishing these histotypes, paving the way for personalized therapies and improved survival in vulnerable populations globally.

Pulse Propagation and Time Reversal in Random Waveguides [PDF]

open access: yesSIAM Journal on Applied Mathematics, 2007
Mode coupling in a random waveguide can be analyzed with asymptotic analysis based on separation of scales when the propagation distance is large compared to the size of the random inhomogeneities, which have small variance, and when the wavelength is comparable to the scale of the inhomogeneities.

Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

Time-resolved studies of light propagation in paper [PDF]

open access: yesApplied Optics, 1995
A method for time-resolved recording of light scattering in thin, highly scattering media is described. Subpicosecond pulses from a high-power Ti:sapphire laser are used, and single-shot recordings of the scattered light are made with a fast streak camera.

The cooperative regulation of miR‐221 by APE1 and AUF1 impacts p27Kip1 defining a miR signature relevant for cervical cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
A regulatory axis involving APE1, AUF1, and miR‐221 is proposed. Pri‐miR‐221 is processed by DROSHA and DICER to generate mature miR‐221, which targets p27Kip1 mRNA. APE1 and AUF1 compete for pre‐miR‐221 binding. Reduced APE1/AUF1 levels impair miR‐221 biogenesis, decrease p27Kip1 mRNA degradation, and promote cell cycle progression, chemoresistance ...

Interarrival times of message propagation on directed networks [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review E, 2011
One of the challenges in fighting cybercrime is to understand the dynamics of message propagation on botnets, networks of infected computers used to send viruses, unsolicited commercial emails (SPAM) or denial of service attacks. We map this problem to the propagation of multiple random walkers on directed networks and we evaluate the inter-arrival ...

MiR‐513a promotes human erythroid differentiation by modulating c‐Jun

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
During early human erythropoiesis, miR‐513a promoted erythroid differentiation in primary human CD34+ hematopoietic stem‐progenitor cells and human TF‐1 erythroleukemic cells by indirectly decreasing c‐Jun and phospho‐c‐Jun expression, which are associated with increased GATA1 expression.

Sub-nanosecond delay of light in (Cd,Zn)Te crystal

open access: yes, 2010
We study excitonic polariton relaxation and propagation in bulk CdZnTe using time- resolved photoluminescence and time-of-flight techniques. Propagation of picosecond optical pulses through 0.745 mm thick crystal results in time delays up to 350 ps ...
