Cruise noise of counterrotation propeller at angle of attack in wind tunnel [PDF]

open access: yes
The noise of a counterrotation propeller at angle of attack was measured in the NASA Lewis 8- by 6-Foot Supersonic Wind Tunnel at cruise conditions. Noise increases of as much as 4 dB were measured at positive angles of attack on the tunnel side wall ...

Analysis of Propeller Selection for Unmanned Aircraft

open access: yesJurnal Ilmu Dasar
Unmanned aircraft are usually used to perform missions, for example surveillance missions. This mission is not always carried out in a suitable location. Researchers must ensure that the aircraft can take off properly.

Measured noise of a scale model high speed propeller at simulated takeoff/approach conditions [PDF]

open access: yes
A model high-speed advanced propeller, SR-7A, was tested in the NASA Lewis 9x15 foot anechoic wind tunnel at simulated takeoff/approach conditions of 0.2 Mach number.

Water‐Stable Paper‐Based Laser‐Induced Graphene With Asymmetric Water Adhesion and Wettability

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Paper‐based electronics are attractive for sustainable and disposable devices, but often fail in wet environments. By introducing Parafilm into cellulose paper combined with laser conversion, two graphene surfaces with different water interactions are created.

Numerical Simulations Of Hydrodynamic Open-Water Characteristics Of A Ship Propeller

open access: yesPolish Maritime Research, 2016
The paper presents the results of numerical simulations of ship propeller operation bearing the name of Propeller Open Water (POW) Tests. The object of tests was a sample ship propeller (PPTC1), the geometrical and kinematic data of which are available ...

Laboratory experiments on active suppression of advanced turboprop noise [PDF]

open access: yes
The noise generated by supersonic tip speed propellers may be a cabin environment problem for future propeller-driven airplanes. Active suppression from speakers inside the airplane cabin has been proposed for canceling out this noise.

Topological Point Defects in SmC* Liquid Crystals Under Mechanical Disturbance

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Tangetial air jet shear inducess island formation and nucleates topological point defects in uniform SmC films. Island bounded by edge dislocation loops shrink and transform into isolated point defects under continued shear. Mechanical perturbatio provides a controllable route for defect engineering in smectric liquid crystal thin films.

An Electric Thrust Meter Suitable for Flight Investigation of Propellers [PDF]

open access: yes
A lightweight instrument that utilizes resistance-wire electric strain gases to measure propeller-shaft thrust has been developed. A wind-tunnel investigation on a propeller installed, on a single-engine pursuit airplane showed that the instrument gave a
