Novel Alumophosphate‐based Gold Catalysts for the Direct Propene Epoxidation

Gas-phase propene epoxidation over coinage metal catalysts
Research on Chemical Intermediates, 2011Propene oxide (PO) is a very important bulk chemical and is produced on a scale of about 7.5 million tons per year. In industry, PO is produced via multiple reaction steps in the liquid phase, using hazardous chlorine or costly organic hydroperoxides as oxidants.

ACSAICHE 99094-Direct epoxidation of propene over gold catalysts
ACS National Meeting Book of Abstracts, 2008The direct epoxidation of propene over gold catalysts is an attractive environment friendly alternative for the two current processes. The chlorohydrin process produces large amounts of salt waste and chlorinated side products. The hydroperoxide processes are complex, energy intensive, and produce a co-product in a 2-3 times larger quantity.

Direct epoxidation of propene on silylated Au-Ti catalysts
2019Silylation was employed on Au/Ti–SiO2 catalysts in order to enhance catalyst performance for the direct epoxidation of propene to propene oxide using H2 and O2. The effect of using different silylating agents/procedures was systematically investigated. The optimum silylation technique gave increase in the PO yield, selectivity and H2 efficiency.
