Vector Fields and Differential Forms on the Orbit Space of a Proper Action [PDF]

open access: yesAxioms, 2021
In this paper, we study differential forms and vector fields on the orbit space of a proper action of a Lie group on a smooth manifold, defining them as multilinear maps on the generators of infinitesimal diffeomorphisms, respectively.

Elovl5 is required for proper action potential conduction along peripheral myelinated fibers [PDF]

open access: yesGlia, 2021
Elovl5 elongates fatty acids with 18 carbon atoms and in cooperation with other enzymes guarantees the normal levels of very long‐chain fatty acids, which are necessary for a proper membrane structure.

Some remarks on proper actions, proper metric spaces, and buildings

open access: yesAdvances in Geometry, 2022
Abstract We discuss various aspects of isometric group actions on proper metric spaces. As one application, we show that a proper and Weyl transitive action on a euclidean building is strongly transitive on the maximal atlas (the complete apartment system) of the building.

Analytical signatures and proper actions [PDF]

open access: yesTopological Methods in Nonlinear Analysis, 2021
In this short note we compare Mishchenko's definition of noncommutative signature for a manifold with proper $G$-action of a discrete, countable group $G$ with the (more analytical) counterpart defined by Higson and Roe in the series of articles "Mapping Surgery to Analysis". A generalization of the coarse index is also addressed.

On exact proper time Wilsonian RG flows [PDF]

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields, 2020
We discuss the possibility to define exact RG equations for a UV regulated Wilsonian action based on a proper time (PT) regulator function. We start from a functional mapping which shows how each particular flow equation (and RG scheme) is associated to ...

On the uniqueness of the analyticity of a proper G-action

open access: yesManuscripta Mathematica, 1996
The author proves the following theorem: Let \(G\) be a Lie group with only finitely many components. Furthermore, let \(G\) act real-analytically and properly on the real-analytical manifolds \(X\) and \(Y\). If there is a smooth \(G\)-equivariant diffeomorphism from \(X\) to \(Y\) then there is a real-analytic \(G\)-equivariant diffeomorphism from ...

Insulin action in the brain regulates mitochondrial stress responses and reduces diet-induced weight gain

open access: yesMolecular Metabolism, 2019
Objective: Insulin action in the brain controls metabolism and brain function, which is linked to proper mitochondrial function. Conversely, brain insulin resistance associates with mitochondrial stress and metabolic and neurodegenerative diseases.

Determining the Proper Times and Sufficient Actions for the Collision Avoidance of Navigator-Centered Ships in the Open Sea Using Artificial Neural Networks

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2023
Ship collisions are a major maritime accident; various systems have been proposed to prevent them. Through investigating and analyzing the causes of maritime accidents, it has been established that ship collisions can either caused by delaying actions or
