Model Reduction Using Proper Orthogonal Decomposition and Predictive Control of Distributed Reactor System

open access: yesJournal of Control Science and Engineering, 2013
This paper studies the application of proper orthogonal decomposition (POD) to reduce the order of distributed reactor models with axial and radial diffusion and the implementation of model predictive control (MPC) based on discrete-time linear time ...

Global dynamic behaviors for a delayed Nicholson's blowflies model with a linear harvesting term

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Qualitative Theory of Differential Equations, 2013
In this paper, we study a generalized Nicholson's blowflies model with a linear harvesting term, which is defined on the positive function space. Under proper conditions, we employ a novel proof to establish some criteria for the global dynamic ...

Salmonella lipopolysaccharide‐containing supported lipid bilayers as platforms to study bacteriophage interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

An overview of the proper generalized decomposition with applications in computational rheology [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We review the foundations and applications of the proper generalized decomposition (PGD), a powerful model reduction technique that computes a priori by means of successive enrichment a separated representation of the unknown field.

Microbiome−host proteostasis crosstalk—An emerging perspective on mechanisms and interventions toward healthy longevity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Proteostasis and the gut microbiota play a key role in shaping host physiology. Microbiota‐derived metabolites, vitamins, and RNA modulate host proteostasis. Findings from model systems, including C. elegans, indicate microbes can either stabilize or disrupt host proteostasis.

On computing minimal proper nullspace bases with applications in fault detection [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We discuss computationally efficient and numerically reliable algorithms to compute minimal proper nullspace bases of a rational or polynomial matrix.

Structural insights and therapeutic targets in Acinetobacter baumannii capsule biosynthesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Hypervirulent KL49 A. baumannii's capsular polysaccharide contains the nonulosonic acid 8‐epi‐Leg5,7Ac2, synthesized by epimerization via ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC. Crystal structures of ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC reveal their role in CMP‐Leg5,7Ac2 synthesis and regioselective C8 epimerization.

Non Linear Proper Generalized Decomposition method applied to the magnetic simulation of a SMC microstructure [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Improvement of the magnetic performances of Soft Magnetic Composites (SMC) materials requires to link the microstructures to the macroscopic magnetic behavior law.

Nonlinear compressive reduced basis approximation for PDE’s

open access: yesComptes Rendus. Mécanique, 2023
Linear model reduction techniques design offline low-dimensional subspaces that are tailored to the approximation of solutions to a parameterized partial differential equation, for the purpose of fast online numerical simulations.

Modelling stem cell differentiation related processes—A practical overview for biologists

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Stem cell differentiation is complex and difficult to control experimentally. This review introduces suitable computational modelling approaches that can support stem cell research, from mechanistic ODE and abstract models to multiscale and deep learning methods.
