Proper mappings and dimension [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the American Mathematical Society, 1971
In this note it is shown that if W is the long line and f is a proper mapping of WX [0, 1 ] into Y, then dim Y22. This answers a question raised by Isbell. The main result of this note is that if W is the long line and f is a proper mapping of WX [0, 1) into Y, then dim Y_2. This answers a question posed by Isbell [2, pp. 119-120]. The main result will

Rab14 regulates the transport of human papillomavirus to the trans‐Golgi network for infectious cell entry

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals that the small GTPase Rab14 is necessary for human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and plays an essential role in the transport of virions to the trans‐Golgi network (TGN). HPV in the early endosome (EE), which harbors GTP‐bound Rab14, is transported to the TGN through the switch of Rab14 from its GTP‐bound to GDP‐bound form.

An Efficient Rescue System with Online Multi-Agent SLAM Framework

open access: yesSensors, 2019
A novel and an efficient rescue system with a multi-agent simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) framework is proposed to reduce the rescue time while rescuing the people trapped inside a burning building.

Preparing a Flood Vulnerability Map using GIS-AHP Approach; Case study: Alamut Rood river basin [PDF]

open access: yesمسکن و محیط روستا, 2023
A flood vulnerability map is a comprehensive tool for predicting and preventing the destructive effects of floods worldwide, especially in areas with a history of recurrent floods.

Salmonella lipopolysaccharide‐containing supported lipid bilayers as platforms to study bacteriophage interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

Secant Cylinders Are Evil—A Case Study on the Standard Lines of the Universal Transverse Mercator and Universal Polar Stereographic Projections

open access: yesISPRS International Journal of Geo-Information
The literature usually calls downscaled versions of basic conformal map projections “secant”, referring to conceptual developable map surfaces that intersect the reference frame.

Microbiome−host proteostasis crosstalk—An emerging perspective on mechanisms and interventions toward healthy longevity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Proteostasis and the gut microbiota play a key role in shaping host physiology. Microbiota‐derived metabolites, vitamins, and RNA modulate host proteostasis. Findings from model systems, including C. elegans, indicate microbes can either stabilize or disrupt host proteostasis.

Proper holomorphic mappings [PDF]

open access: yesBulletin of the American Mathematical Society, 1984
This is a survey of some recent results on proper mappings \(f:\Omega \to D\) in the case where \(\Omega\), \(D\subset \subset {\mathbb{C}}^ n\) are bounded domains with smooth boundary. The main attention is given to the boundary smoothness of f and of the branch locus of f.

Forest road network planning based on environmental, technical and economical considerations using GIS and AHP (Case study: Baharbon district in Kheyroud forest) [PDF]

open access: yesتحقیقات جنگل و صنوبر ایران, 2011
The goal of this study is presenting a proper method to improve the planning of forest roads network based on environmental, technical and economical considerations using GIS (Geographical Information System) and AHP (Analytical Hierarchy Process).

Phosphoinositides and inositol phosphates as molecular glues

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol phosphates (IPs) and phosphoinositides (PIPs) regulate diverse eukaryotic processes. Beyond recruiting signaling proteins or acting as structural cofactors, recent studies suggest they mediate protein–protein interactions as natural molecular glues.
