Adaptive Macroscopic Ensemble Allocation for Robot Teams Monitoring Spatiotemporal Processes

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
We propose an online, environment feedback‐driven macroscopic ensemble approach to adapt robot team task allocation in spatiotemporal environments by controlling robot populations rather than assigning individual robots, all while maintaining robust team performance even for small teams. Our simulation and experimental results show better or comparable

Generalized Task‐Driven Design of Soft Robots via Reduced‐Order Finite Element Method‐Based Surrogate Modeling

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
A unified, reusable modeling pipeline enables task‐driven design of soft robots across actuator families and task scenarios. High‐fidelity simulations are compressed into compact pseudo‐rigid‐body joint surrogates, while a design‐conditioned meta‐model generates new surrogates from geometry parameters without rerunning finite element method.

A computationally optimal randomized proper orthogonal decomposition technique [PDF]

open access: yes2016 American Control Conference (ACC), 2016
In this paper, we consider the model reduction problem of large-scale systems, such as systems obtained through the discretization of partial differential equations. We propose a computationally optimal randomized proper orthogonal decomposition (RPOD*) technique to obtain the reduced order model by perturbing the primal and adjoint system using ...

Addressing Small Data Challenges in Biopharmaceutical Development and Manufacturing: A Mini Review of Multi‐Fidelity Techniques

open access: yesBiotechnology and Bioengineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The growing demand for biopharmaceutical products reflects their effectiveness in medical treatments. However, developing new biopharmaceuticals remains a major bottleneck, often taking up to a decade before market approval. Machine learning (ML) models have the potential to accelerate this process, but their success depends on access to large

Nanomaterial‐based immune therapeutic strategies in neurodegenerative diseases

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
This review highlights the immunomodulatory potential of nanomaterials (NMs) in treating neurodegenerative diseases (NDs). It focuses on their roles in regulating innate and adaptive immune responses to maintain immune homeostasis. By providing insights into these mechanisms, the review lays the groundwork for innovative NMs therapeutic strategies to ...

Symplectic Model Reduction of Hamiltonian Systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
In this paper, a symplectic model reduction technique, proper symplectic decomposition (PSD) with symplectic Galerkin projection, is proposed to save the computational cost for the simplification of large-scale Hamiltonian systems while preserving the ...
