Haagerup property for C*-algebras and rigidity of C*-algebras with property (T) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We study the Haagerup property for C*-algebras. We first give new examples of C*-algebras with the Haagerup property. A nuclear C*-algebra with a faithful tracial state always has the Haagerup property, and the permanence of the Haagerup property for C ...

Property-Rights Regimes and Natural Resources: A Conceptual Analysis

open access: yesLand Economics, 1992
The term "common-property resource" is an example of a term repeatedly used to refer to property owned by a government or by no one. It is also used for property owned by a community of resource users.

Expanders and property A [PDF]

open access: yesAlgebraic & Geometric Topology, 2012
We give a cohomological characterisation of expander graphs, and use it to give a direct proof that expander graphs do not have Yu's property A.

Property $(T)$ and strong Property $(T)$ for unital $C^*$-algebras [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
In this paper, we will give a thorough study of the notion of Property $(T)$ for $C^*$-algebras (as introduced by M.B. Bekka in \cite{Bek-T}) as well as a slight stronger version of it, called "strong property $(T)$" (which is also an analogue of the ...

Combining transient dynamics and logistic‐asymptotic growth to study the recovery of two seabird populations after rat eradication

open access: yesPopulation Ecology, EarlyView.
This study examines the demographic dynamics of two seabird populations on Tromelin Island, 15 years after the eradication of brown rats. The results indicate that these populations are in good health and are expected to continue growing until breeding sites are saturated in about a century.

Network topology drives population temporal variability in experimental habitat networks

open access: yesPopulation Ecology, EarlyView.
Habitat patches connected by dispersal pathways form habitat networks. We explored how network topology affects population outcomes in laboratory experiments using a model species (Daphnia carinata). Central habitat nodes in complex lattice networks exhibited lower temporal variability in population sizes, suggesting they support more stable ...

Properties of subentropy [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Mathematical Physics, 2014
Subentropy is an entropy-like quantity that arises in quantum information theory; for example, it provides a tight lower bound on the accessible information for pure state ensembles, dual to the von Neumann entropy upper bound in Holevo's theorem. Here we establish a series of properties of subentropy, paralleling the well-developed analogous theory ...

Dendritic cells steering antigen and leukocyte traffic in lymph nodes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Dendritic cells are key players in the activation of T cells and their commitment to effector function. In this In a Nutshell Review, we will discuss how dendritic cells guide the trafficking of antigen and leukocytes in the lymph node, thus influencing T‐cell activation processes. Dendritic cells (DCs) play a central role in initiating and shaping the
