Electrochemical Behavior of Flame‐Sprayed Sc‐Doped AlCoCrFeMo High‐Entropy Alloy Coatings in 3.5% Sodium Chloride Solution

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Scandium (Sc)‐doped AlCoCrFeMo HEA coatings are fabricated via flame spraying with 0.1, 0.3, and 0.5 wt% Sc additions. Among these, the HEA‐Sc0.3 coating exhibits the highest corrosion resistance, indicated by a more positive corrosion potential and lower current density.

Retromuscular (sublay) synthetic mesh reinforcement versus no mesh at end-colostomy creation to prevent parastomal hernia: a GRADE-assessed systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials featuring subgroup analysis by CT-mandated versus clinical detection

open access: yesBMC Surgery
Background Parastomal hernia is a major complication following end-colostomy, affecting 30–70% of patients and imposing significant healthcare burdens. Prophylactic mesh reinforcement has emerged as a preventive strategy; however, evidence synthesis has ...

Prophylactic antibiotic for open mesh repair of inguinal hernia; from principe to nécessité

open access: yesInternational Journal of Abdominal Wall and Hernia Surgery, 2019
PURPOSE: The use of prophylactic antibiotics (PAs) in open mesh repair (MR) of inguinal hernia (IH) is controversial. Clean surgeries do not require PA. However, prosthetic implants may require PA.

Investigating the Effect of Inclination Angle and the Influence of Scan Parameters on the Appearance and Thermal and Mechanical Properties of Filigree Tension Rods of LPBF‐Manufactured NiTi Shape‐Memory Alloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article investigates the dependence of the properties on the manufacturing orientation in the form of the inclination angle to the build plate of LPBF‐fabricated NiTi rods with a diameter of 150–220 µm. Metallographic, chemical, thermal, and mechanical characterization show behavior under identical manufacturing conditions that ranges from ...
