Cascade Photoreaction in Crystals: A Phase Change Caused by a Dewar Benzene Quantum Chain Triggers a Topochemical [2 + 2] Photodimerization. [PDF]
Crystals undergoing tandem reactions where the first transformation enables the second one are rare. Using photoreactive Dewar benzene 3,4,5,6-tetramethyl-1,2-dicarboxylic diacid (DB) as a hydrogen-bonding template for the [2π+2π] photodimerization of ...

Transition-metal-free a-arylation of enolizable aryl ketones and mechanistic evidence for a radical process [PDF]
The a-arylation of enolizable aryl ketones can be carried out with aryl halides under transition-metal-free conditions using KOtBu in DMF. The a-aryl ketones thus obtained can be used for step- and cost-economic syntheses of fused heterocycles and ...

Abstract A novel, metal‐free, air‐ and moisture‐compatible one‐pot tandem protocol for the regio‐ and stereoselective synthesis of Z‐vinyl sulfides (achieving yields up to 99%), is reported. This straightforward and efficient process combines the selective hydroiodination of internal alkynes, promoted by the eutectic mixture choline iodide (ChI)/p‐TsOH

The Ascent of Supramolecular Polymers and Gels in Asymmetric Catalysis
SPs and gels emerged as modular platforms for asymmetric catalysis. This review ranks literature reports according to the achiral or chiral nature of the monomers bearing the catalytic site. New paradigms showcased by this approach are particularly highlighted, such as catalysts operating with a low amount of chiral inducers, or with no chiral inducer,

Design of two alternative routes for the synthesis of naftifine and analogues as potential antifungal agents [PDF]
Two practical and efficient approaches have been implemented as alternative procedures for the synthesis of naftifine and novel diversely substituted analogues 16 and 20 in good to excellent yields, mediated by Mannich-type reactions as the key step of ...

Abstract α‐Chiral amines are versatile building blocks for the asymmetric synthesis of optically pure high‐added‐value chemicals, including pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, and natural products. Herein, we report a one‐pot, two‐step sequential deracemization of racemic sec‐alcohols to optically enriched primary amines throught a photo‐biocatalytic ...

1 min synthesis of phase pure nanocrystalline high‐entropy sulfides for efficient water electrolysis
High‐entropy sulphide spinels are synthesized with up to 8 different metal cations by an extremely short synthesis time of only 1 min and temperature of only 200–230°C. We further demonstrate the activity of the obtained nanosheets for both the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) and the oxygen evolution reaction (OER).

A photoredox‐catalyzed three‐component synthesis of β‐ketosulfonamides is described. This reaction utilizes in situ‐generated sulfamoyl radicals as versatile synthetic intermediates. It enables a visible‐light‐mediated, direct fixation of sulfur dioxide, provided as the simple‐to‐handle solid surrogate DABSO, into pharmaceutically relevant sulfonamide ...
