Inbreeding Effects on Propylea quatuordecimpunctata (Coleoptera: Coccinellidae)

Up to 5 successive inbred generations were produced, through sibling mating, from 64 parental (P) pairs of Propylea quatuordecimpunctata (L.) collected from 3 locations in the northeastern United States. The percentage of P females ovipositing >5 eggs was 62.5% compared with a mean of 43% for inbred generations F1 to F4.

Ecology of aphidophagous ladybird Propylea species: A review

The ovipositional orientation of an aphidophagous ladybird beetle, Propylea dissecta (Mulsant) (Coleoptera: Coccinellidae) in terms of geo- and photo-taxis, colour and texture of substrates was studied. The beetle exhibited a high preference for negatively geotactic substrates for oviposition.

Response of the bacterial community of Propylea japonica (Thunberg) to Cry2Ab protein

Propylea japonica is a very important predator in agricultural ecosystems, which could be exposed to Bt protein. In this study, the bacterial community of P. japonica fed with normal food and food containing Cry2Ab protein was characterized for the first time using qPCR and high-throughput sequencing approaches. Results showed no effect of Cry2Ab on P.

This predator has also been cultured by the United States Department of Agriculture from geographically diverse Old World populations and propagated for release in the U.S.A.

Selection and inheritance of developmental variants of Propylea dissecta under thermal stress conditions
