Low system justification is associated with support for both progressive and reactionary social change

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Social Psychology, Volume 52, Issue 7, Page 1015-1030, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Traditional definitions of political ideology state that right‐wingers support system stability, whereas left‐wingers support social change. However, during the last decade many right‐wing movements have been on the rise and demanded far‐reaching changes.

Towards Expressive Zero-Shot Speech Synthesis with Hierarchical Prosody Modeling [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Recent research in zero-shot speech synthesis has made significant progress in speaker similarity. However, current efforts focus on timbre generalization rather than prosody modeling, which results in limited naturalness and expressiveness. To address this, we introduce a novel speech synthesis model trained on large-scale datasets, including both ...

Bending performance changes during prolonged canine eruption in saber‐toothed carnivores: A case study of Smilodon fatalis

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract The canine of saber‐toothed predators represents one of the most specialized dental structures known. Hypotheses about the function of hypertrophied canines range from display and conspecific interaction, soft food processing, to active prey acquisition.

Synapsids and sensitivity: Broad survey of tetrapod trigeminal canal morphology supports an evolutionary trend of increasing facial tactile specialization in the mammal lineage

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract The trigeminus nerve (cranial nerve V) is a large and significant conduit of sensory information from the face to the brain, with its three branches extending over the head to innervate a wide variety of integumentary sensory receptors, primarily tactile.

Role of acid‐base and hydration‐dehydration equilibria on reductions of chloral and chloral hydrate

open access: yesElectrochemical Science Advances, Volume 2, Issue 6, December 2022., 2022
Abstract The electrochemical behavior of chloral hydrate in aqueous solutions at various pH values was investigated by using polarography. Reduction of chloral hydrate takes place in two steps: one appears as a small limiting current value that corresponds to the reduction of the unhydrated form, present in solutions in less than 3%, and another larger

On French prosody [PDF]

open access: yes, 1974
This report describes the organization of the fundamental frequency (F 0) variationsin French sentences. It is based on the analysis of the Fo patterns of declarative sentences readby six native speakers of French. The prosodic-syntactic structure has several levels: the prosodic sentence, the prosodic sense-group and the prosodic word.

A perspective from the Mesozoic: Evolutionary changes of the mammalian skull and their influence on feeding efficiency and high‐frequency hearing

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract The complex evolutionary history behind modern mammalian chewing performance and hearing function is a result of several changes in the entire skeletomuscular system of the skull and lower jaw. Lately, exciting multifunctional 3D analytical methods and kinematic simulations of feeding functions in both modern and fossil mammals and their ...
