Influence of Polymeric Dispersants on the Dissolution Rate of Tricalcium Silicate and the Nucleation of Calcium‐Silicate‐Hydrate and Portlandite

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Accepted Article.
Polycarboxylate ether (PCE) and polyphosphate ether (PPE) dispersants (known as superplasticizers) are indispensable components of modern concrete mix designs. PCEs and PPEs cause retardation of the cement hydration as a secondary effect which causes delayed concrete strength development.

Exploring the Potential of Metal–Organic Frameworks for the Separation of Blends of Fluorinated Gases with High Global Warming Potential

open access: yesGlobal Challenges, Volume 7, Issue 1, January 2023., 2023
Four different metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) and one zeolite are studied for the adsorption of fluorinated gases and are evaluated for the separation of refrigerants with high global warming potential. The utilization of MOFs for these purposes is promising and by selecting materials with different porous characteristics and chemistries, it is ...

Molecular dynamics of high‐pressure liquid water: Going from ambient to near‐critical temperatures.

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Accepted Article.
The properties of high‐pressure liquid water were investigated along the isobar of 25 MPa and in the temperature range 298.15‐623.15 K using classical molecular dynamics simulations. Particular attention has been given to the changes in the local structural and related dynamic properties of liquid water.

A Vibration‐Induced Emission‐Based Ratiometric Sensor for Detection of Anions in Aqueous Solution

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Accepted Article.
Sensors that respond to anions via vibration‐induced emission (VIE) have recently emerged as effective tools for discrimination between closely related carboxylate species in non‐competitive, organic solvents. However, the utility of this sensing mechanism has not yet been demonstrated for anions in aqueous media.

Testing prosodic development with the Headturn Preference Procedure: A test‐retest reliability study

open access: yesInfant and Child Development, Volume 31, Issue 6, November/December 2022., 2022
Abstract The Headturn Preference Procedure (HPP) is widely used in infant research. Previous studies have shown that speech perception measures obtained with HPP are related to later language skills which may make them a potential instrument for an early detection of developmental language risks. The present study assessed the reliability and stability

Photoredox‐Catalyzed Hydroalkylation of C(sp3)–H Acids

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Accepted Article.
We present a detailed study on a photoredox catalysis platform that directly engages 1,3‐dicarbonyl C(sp3)–H acids towards radical reactions. This platform enables redox‐neutral hydroalkylation and cross‐coupling, as well as oxidative transformations that demonstrably improve on the prior state of the art.
