Different methodologies were tested to extract phytoestrogens and the main phenolic compounds from mesquite pods (Prosopis sp.) collected at Tequisquiapan, Queretaro, Mexico. This fruit is used for human consumption as well as feedstuff for ovines, caprines, and other farm animals.
