Prostate cancer tumour control probability modelling for external beam radiotherapy based on multi-parametric MRI-GTV definition

open access: yesRadiation Oncology, 2020
Purpose To evaluate the applicability and estimate the radiobiological parameters of linear-quadratic Poisson tumour control probability (TCP) model for primary prostate cancer patients for two relevant target structures (prostate gland and GTV). The TCP

Tumor mutational burden as a determinant of metastatic dissemination patterns

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study performed a comprehensive analysis of genomic data to elucidate whether metastasis in certain organs share genetic characteristics regardless of cancer type. No robust mutational patterns were identified across different metastatic locations and cancer types.

Species- and organ-specificity of secretory proteins derived from human prostate and seminal vesicles [PDF]

open access: yes, 1990
Polyclonal antibodies against semenogelin (SG) isolated from human seminal vesicle secretion and acid phosphatase (PAP), β‐microseminoprotein (β‐MSP), and Prostate‐Specific Antigen (PSA) derived from human prostatic fluid, as well as a monoclonal ...

MPI‐Guided Photothermal Therapy of Prostate Cancer Using Stem Cell Delivery of Magnetotheranostic Nanoflowers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Tumor‐tropic human mesenchymal stem cells (hMSCs) were used as delivery vehicles for magnetotheranostic gold–iron oxide nanoflowers. Magnetic particle imaging of the iron component demonstrated widespread intratumoral distribution and sustained retention in contrast to injection of naked nanoflowers.

Significance of the prostate central gland and total gland volume ratio in the diagnosis of prostate cancer patients in the prostate specific antigen grey zone

open access: yesJournal of International Medical Research, 2021
Objective To explore the significance of the prostate central gland to total gland volume ratio (PVc/PV) in the diagnosis of prostate cancer (PCa) in patients with prostate specific antigen (PSA) levels in the grey zone (4–10 ng/ml).

Cell Calcification Models and Their Implications for Medicine and Biomaterial Research

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Calcification, is the process by which the tissues containing minerals are formed, occurring during normal physiological processes, or in pathological conditions. Here, it is aimed to give a comprehensive overview of the range of cell models available, and the approaches taken by these models, highlighting when and how methodological divergences arise,

Is birthweight associated with total and aggressive/lethal prostate cancer risks? A systematic review and meta-analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
BACKGROUND: It has been hypothesised that intrauterine exposures are important for subsequent prostate cancer risk. Prior epidemiological studies have used birthweight as a proxy of cumulative intrauterine exposures to test this hypothesis, but results ...
